Basically I had my hair dyed brown at the hairdressers a few weeks ago with a few highlights out in. The brown went a funny reddy horrible colour so I decided to do it myself with a semi-perminant chocolate brown to brighten it up again but the highlights have got a green colour? Did I leave it on for too long do you think - and is there anything I can do to sort it out except go to the hairdressers and pay loadsa ££?

It could have been swimming I suppose! It is not terrible - but I can notice and when the sun shines on it it makes it more visable. Not that many people have noticed yet! Hairdressers it is I think!

Shall I just put the ketchup on the hightlights or all over? I like the colour of the brown?? What do you think?

Unfortunately, some dyes don't mix. Swimming can cause green colours in dyed hair - are you sure that wasn't it? I think a hairdresser will be needed unless anyone else has any bright ideas.

Brown on highlights will go green!!!! It is because when you do h/ls such as blonde, the hair is stripped of its natural pigmentation (its reds/browns/oranges) in order for it to become so light. To turn blondes back to brown you need to replace these tones by putting the warmth of the red back in by putting a warm colour on 1st before putting the brown on. At least you know for next time! For now wash your hair with a strong shampoo e.g. one for dandruff, this will help strip some of the colour off the h/ls and I would visit the hairdressers to sort it out they will probably recommend to put a warm brown over it, depending on how green and murky it is. Do not play with home colours again!!! Good luck!

Chances are the brown you used all over had an Ash colour in it. Blondes should NEVER dye their hair w/ an Ash Blonde of Ash Brown it will cause the green, it happened to my friend and I when we waned to go brown.

I really would recommend you go to a professional not a cheap hairdresser because it could get worse. You need a colour specialist.

Yep, hairdresser, and ask her a lot of questions to learn where you went wrong.
Nurture your poor hair, and follow her advice about no chemical treatments for as long as she says, or you risk having it break off/fall out & then you really end up hatin' life.
Best of luck to you, a color specialist should be able to really fix it up. Just consider it an expensive lesson.

You need to get to a hairdressers - don't attempt to sort this on your own. Not sure how much it will cost but it's better than having green highlights you poor thing. Best of luck!!

Tomato ketchup!! Remember your colour wheel from school?? Red and Green complement each other, and green concealer is to bring down redness on your face so the tomato ketchup will take out the green!!!!

Perhaps the chemicals mixed and created the green colour. You should wait a while n then reapply the colour.
It might have happeend cuz of swimmin too - chlorine in the pool mst have mixed withthe chemicals.

I'd put a permanent brown all over - maybe do a patch test first on your green hair!!
