It's the nicest country in the world, and I would know, because I have also lived in all the other ones that claimed to be that. In short, it's like living in Wales in the late 1970s, but the cars are new, and the restaurants and supermarkets, too. The weather is mild, but windy. It never gets very hot or very cold. The houses are exceedingly pretty and usually made from wood. The people are perfectly normal people, I wouldn't know how to say it in any other way - there is nothing strange about them at all, but they do like food and wine, and are generally very warm and mellow once you get to know them (they can be a bit grumpy with you though first if you don't know them, or if they're stressed - as I said, perfectly normal people).
I don't know how well you know the world, but I would say New Zealand is what you'd get if Ticino, the Italian speaking part of Switzerland, belonged to Britain. It all reminds you a bit of England, but it looks amazing in its very own way.
Welcome! Enjoy your new life.

It's like eating a ham sandwhich and staring at a penguin, all rolled in butter and tied to a flagpole.
In other words, it's whatever you make of it.
