What do you mean by "standard"?

And 1 square foot, which way are you placing the bricks ? stacked on a wall ? or flat on the ground ?

There was a brick size they use to make in the USA officially called "standard size" which generally not made by any mfg now, it was 8" L x 2 1/4 " H required 6.55 bricks per square foot, if you build a wall with it. They don't make that size much at all anymore, so in a sense, its not standard anymore, despite the name of that size.

If you place it on the ground for a patio or walkway, mod's about 4.5 or 5.21 bricks per square foot, depending on width or with / without mortar joints.

For walls, the most common size in the USA is the "modular size" 7 5/8 " x 2 1/4" requiring 6.86 bricks per square foot.
There is a more economical size called "engineer size" 7 5/8 " x 2 3/4 " requiring 5.02 bricks per square foot. There are others sizes too. In Canada, the "standard" size NOW is
Max size 10 1/8 " x 3 1/8 " requiring 3.9 bricks per square foot. In the past they used another size required 6 bricks per square foot. So many buildings are made with it people nickname it "standard"
