Yes. Friends become lovers, lovers become bestfriends, lovers become ex's. so ex's are still bestfriends, just not lovers.
Just watch yourself, dont get your feelings involved if it is not mutual. Ask.
p.s. I have an ex-friend, ex-lover, ex-bestfriend in one person. and he knows me better than I know myself, he probably knows me more than anyone on the planet, so even though relationships end the person that knows you is still there. It becomes difficult to know exactly where the relationship stands at times.
So as often as you can before you slip up, give yourself a reality check of exactly where you are in the relationship and where you want to be. If you want out then just say it.

Depends on why he became your ex I suppose. Half the relationships I know are couples who say "he's more like my best friend" so I would say yes.
Could get a bit awkward withe other halves but then again it might not.
Good luck!

Absolutely. My ex cheated on me (in my bed!) and I ended up kicking him out of our house... Two years later, we started talking again. A few nights ago, he brought me gas at 3AM when I was 35 miles away because I ran out before I made it to the station. I definitely count him as one of my best friends.

I think that someone's looking for an excuse to keep hanging on.
Remaining friendly is one thing, but anything more is just wishful thinking. There's a reason WHY he's the 'ex'. Get on with your life & let him get on with his. Neither of you need to keep hanging on. Let it go.

I suppose. But then that might interfere with your ability to emotionally connect with another partner. Depends I guess on the level of "friendship' you're talking about. Good luck!

he or she will become EX if a relation breaks so there is no question of being a BEST FRIEND I think if you love some one he or she must be your best friend too

yes....
in fact..
i just got back from his wedding.....
we went out for a while more than 10 years ago....he left the country and we still kept in touch....we are now "best" of friends"
sometimes if relationsips don't work out at THAT given moment they are better off friends....maybe if we did continue on..it wouldn't have made out....& we can't be friends anymore.....

Of course. Its usually more possible when the relationship did not end badly, and it ended as a mutual decision thing.
