Apa Khabar?

Apa as something that rhymes with "upper"
Khabar; " " " "car-bar"

Have fun

PS My dear ONE,
to rhyme 'apa' with the British "upper" (where the r is not aspirated) cannot be rude since this is acceptable to the way the southern peninsular Malays and those in Deli and Riau speak.
It is just as polite as the Indonesian and the Northern Malay states' way of saying. (Aah - Paah).
Thanks.

You would say "Apa Khabar ?" (literally "what news ?" :) ) -- don't pronounce "Apa" as "upper" it's just rude. It's better to pronounce it as "arpa" but with a short "r" sound. Or you could pronounce it "ah-pa" ("pa" like you were referring to your dad.)

tomQ :

You should have said not to aspirate the "r" in the first place. If you did, that would almost definitely be weird. Northern is closer to "apo" to my ears.
