it really all depends on your diet. it's no good working hard in the gym if you're filling your body with rubbish.some protein drinks, such as cyclone from maximuscle, can give you visible results in a few weeks.
it also depends on your body type. if your naturally skinny, then your a hardgainer (like myself), and it'll be very hard for you to put on muscle unless you train extra hard.
in general, train three times a week, doing 2 muscle groups a session (chest and biceps one day, shoulders and triceps another, and legs and back another).cut down on the caardio if your building mass.use heavy weight and fewer reps. after about 6-7 weeks shake your routine up a little bit to keep your body guessing.

A lot depends on your age, and current level of muscle. The important thing to do in the early stages of training is not to expect too much. Do the basics for a few months, dead lifts, shoulder presses, squats, bar bell curls, chest press etc...focussing on technique over weight at first. The results wont be hugely noticable at first, but after around 6 months of this, the correct technique will have seen you build skeletal muscle, and strengthen the tendons you will need to pump the bigger weights.

After this, you'll need a split cycle, focussing on different muscle groups on different days. Sometimes you'll use very heavy weights, strength training, for a few weeks, trying to raise the very maximum you can lift, then a few weeks doing as many reps as possible to muscle failure with 80% of your max weight. Only at these times do you really need the protein drinks.

Within a year you should start noticing good frame changes, with bulk, if desired, starting to show in 18months or so.

If you are doing many reps with a weight amount that is heavy but not taxing, you are toning and you will see results (depending on the amount of fat over the muscles) in about 3 weeks.
If you are doing fewer reps with heavier weights and lifting until you cannot lift any more (maximum taxing) you will see bulk start to build up within 2-3 weeks. Every body is different, but what you will see depends on the type of lifting you are doing. If you are lifting to tone, you will see toning, if you are lifting to create bulk (like a body builder) you will see bulk.
Keep in mind the quesiton was START TO SEE.

It will all depend on your build, your diet and your training. Everyone is different so try not to compare yourself to others and try to remain realistic. I was a really skinny girl as a teen with no boobs and so did weight training to give me shape and definition. It took me about six months to notice a difference and then I reached a certain level where my body wouldn't really change anymore, which was good, as I look toned and fit and it definitely helped. still didn't have any boobs, but i have now! (and I have a fat tummy - damn should have kept the gym up)

sturdy for you on each and every of the exertions. it many times takes about 8 weeks to be sure a sizeable massive difference, despite the indisputable fact that it received't inevitably be in weightloss. you're likely dropping fat and gaining muscle (muscle weighs better than fat, yet takes up a lot less area). How are your clothing setting up? Take images of your self at 8 week periods to degree your progression. it really is plenty a lot less daunting and not basic than weighing your self each day/week. I say purely save up the sturdy artwork and the outcomes will ensue.
