She sounds like a lovely girl, she is obviously aware that it may make you feel uncomfortable hence why she said it was up to you. This is all about trust now and how far your willing to go to show you trust yourself and her. How long ago did they break up? If it was only a couple of months ago then forget it!! I'm still having some trust issues with my partners ex right now and i understand how awkward it can be. However, if its like a year or 2, and/or he seems like he's moved on then why the hell not?
She will note whether his presence is there or not so maybe it would be cool for you to invite him, so to show her and him that theres no hard feelings and your secure in your love for your girl. If shes into you then he will see that, as will you, and it will make you much more confident in any future dealings with him. Remember, she's YOUR girl now. He had his turn. And she'd be crazy to go back with him. It'll be like putting dirty knickers on, ewwwww. Best of luck, enjoy the party.

Mmmmmmm........it would be a demonstration of trust if you invite him and maybe your gf has got an agenda too.....like showing her ex how happy and strong you two are.
It would be an opportunity for you to see them together too. This will either lay some ghosts to rest or start you worrying, depending on how they are together. But at least you'd know once and for all.
Do it.....is my advice. As you say, he may decline the invitation anyway, but at least you can truthfully tell your gf you asked him.
Good luck.

she did let you know that it's up to you. if you feel secure in knowing that their only friends and you're cool with him, like on a ang out together basis, some people can be friends with their lovers ex, then go a head and invite him. but if you don't feel like inviting him just because you don't then don't invite him and be guilt free about it. you don't owe anyone any explanations and you have free reign. you want to be just as comfortable and be able to relax like everyone else. don't invite him if you don want to. he'll get over it.

Sure, invite him. Then, when you get drunk, or run to the store, she can scurry into the bathroom and get a quick nut with him and act as if nothing happened when you return to your senses! She's obviously already told him of the plans, so you can do what you like, but I have to tell you, you're already on a slippery slope with this chick...she's playing you!

Invite him and kill him with kindness. You are the one in her life, and he's the ex. You will so look like the bigger person.

true, they could be just friends but there is more to that friendship than the eye meets, i mean these people used to date and i don't know if you know but feelings don't just decide to go away and your friend could still be crazy over this guy. she's giving you an option because she doesn't want you to see her desperation for her ex to be present.

Invite him and show him what a great boyfriend you are. Probably this is also your girlfriend intent.

i think you should invite him. It would prove to her that you dont hold any grudges and you trust her. And that you are confident in yourself that her ex is old news and your her main squeeze.

I wouldn't invite him. It's your party. Unless you think it's a test on her part, if it is, talk to her and find out how important it is for him to be there.
