Yes - in fact there is a fat free alternative.

I read about it in a book a long time ago called "Eat to win" and it is still on the market although a little hard to find.

It is a product called butter buds which is essentially defatted butter.

Here is a link (there is a store locator here)
http://www.butterbuds.com/

I use it all of the time on popcorn.

There is also a low fat soy based alternative that is pretty good. It is a spray on that you can find in the cold section of most big grocery stores. I think it a alternative version to "I can't belive it's not butter". It says it has 0 calories for several pumps.

there is not a butter which won't let you get fat if you eat it too much... it's better to eat a really good milk butter than a generic spread or a 'light' butter... the only thing that you can do is not to eat it every day and try to subsitute it with a good italian extravirgin olive oil!

Butter is made from milk... and milk always has a certain amount of fat!!! No matter what there will be fat in butter... you either don't eat butter at all if you're afraid to get fat or eat Magarine instead...
It has much more lower fat content, so it is more healthier... however it still has fat... also remember to still continue to drink milk!

whome gave some good advice. But I say if you want real butter, then by all means, eat it. The key thing to keep in mind is moderation. Even the healthiest foods can be overdone - not to the detriment of health but in that if you eat too much of one thing then your diet isn't really balanced. Things are are bad, eat less of. Things that are good, eat an assorted variety of. My two cents.

the only heathy ones are not tastey.

butter is fat...fat tastes good...most the time...so either cut it out completely or do a few sit ups a day after you eat your toast with fatty butter.
