Both of my children were smaller than that, so it is normal for some. I would see the doctor and have the tests done (I did with both) then you will KNOW if something is wrong or if it is normal for her. Don't worry too much about the talk, and no, her weight will not cause her to be delayed in speech, every child is different.

every baby has there time and place.
i don't think you should worry, the baby is fine, and if anybody else tells you different, ask them if they are a doc. if they aren't then the have no rite to pass judgment.
there are allot of bigger problems, the baby could have been born very ill.
just thank the lord your baby is happy and heathy.
this is not a big deal, so don't worry yourself.
if you do find that you need to go to the doctor, then you should take your little one in. but trust me it's nothing. some children are very late.
how is not walking until 1 1/2 yrs old. my friend has a son like that. now that means there is something wrong.
but it's good to hear that you are taking good care and have all the rite concerns. your being a good mom. keep up the great work.
i just have to tell you. a mother never hears enough that they are a good mother. your doing great

Always see a doctor if you are concerned but don't always take their word as 'gospel'. They don't everything and each child is different. The weight depends on you and your husband's build and the build of your child. My son is petite and probably will stay that way no matter how much we feed him. At 18 months several words is normal. She should start using 2 words soon. Like "momma give". If she doesn't soon or you are just concerned, then don't bother with your family/peds doctor. See a specialist!

I know I was a VERY picky eater when I was younger; my mom even paid for them to run tests on me just to find out I was thin. Just make sure to give her what she likes to eat and she'll eat it, even if your feeding her the same things everyday. Try some supplement drinks like Pediasure to make sure she's getting all her nutrients. As long as she is not losing weight and getting all her vitamins, I think you're fine. As for the talking, babies develop at their own rate; you cannot compare two babies and expect them to be on the same path. Some may take a little while to talk but they may learn how to use the potty extremely quick. Just keep encouraging her, and if you see any signs of her losing weight or being lethargic, then I'd say take her to the doctor. If not, just wait and before you know it she'll be speaking as good as you do.
