Of coz they have to coz they are Japs! The same stock of people who committed genocide. It was the same monarchy which ruled. Some just happily forget.

Slap the Japs! Having some retribution doesnt erase their sins!

2006-11-28 20:13:31 · update #2

Hmm... Cant do anything about what happened in the past. But they will have to bear the shame of WW2 forever, the sins of their culture and ancestors. Who actually would get the chance to be ashamed of their ancestors? Obviously pple would trust South Korea with nukes than the Japs right. I say Americans should watch out, u cant expect them to thank you for your gifts in 1945..

Hi Ari! Compensation huh? With what? Compensation for genocide? Why dont u might as well keep erasing history from your textbooks? Forget everything? I say u can never run away, and pple will happily remember. your crimes. May the Japs be banned from any weapons forever.

Hi Mayeda! The twisted punishment meted out was just another form of genocide, an eye for an eye AMERICAN style, which was just as cruel and wrong and doesnt compensate for anything It may have stopped the war but also led to grave, disasterous repurcussions alrite! Just becos e Japs also suffered doesnt mean they are clean and forgiven. They must live with this shame.

Ignorant fools! They should be! And all Japs should bear the shame of their ancestors! I spit on these inhumane dogs and warmongers. Sickos! Comfort women, Kamikaze! Nanjing Massacre? Invasion of China, Korea, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Burma. Who committed these crimes? These dogs are worse than Yankees. I would never ever trust them with anything. I despise those simplistic retards who think that is all over. Forgive and forget? Ur lucky the Japs didnt invade u jackasses.

Hey Stevie, the 2 bombs didnt kill millions of pple. The numbers were around 100,000 - 150,000 about a fifth of what the Japanese killed in their massecres.

2006-12-06 16:27:23 · update #10

And Joriental, ur denial and shamelessness is exactly why the Japs still remain hated in asia. Even if those errors were true it doesnt discount the fact about the totality of destruction and cruelty of the Japs during World War 2.

Another example, do you see the Germans erect a Cathedral in the middle of Berlin to worship to Adolf Hitler? Should they?

If ur truely sorry, burn the Yasukuni.

Well, do I feel sorry that Japan invaded Asian countries? Yes.
Am I upset because I wasn't taught at school what had happened there? Yes.
Do I think the Japanese government hasn't paid enough compensation after it's economical recovery? Yes.

But do I have to be punished? I don't know.
Maybe.
Who knows?
I even can't know what really happened there.(I'm not in denial or shirk)
I may deserve.

By the way, atomic bomb is nothing to do with punishment for Japan's sin.
It was just another war crime. Nobody deserved it.

See, I guess I kind of understand BUM's anger when I think about nuclear bombs that America dropped on Japanese people.
None of my relatives died from them but I'm still furious that it has been done by someones hand.

Hate war.

What do you think their the only country to do stuff like that. Just because you do not know about what every other country is out there doing. Look around the world stuff like that is still going on today and where in 2006 almost 2007 and were supposed to be more civilized and caring and have more knowledge. If any things people are learning from their grandparents mistakes. If it never would have happened the generation of today would not be going in the direction that they are going. We learn what not do do from others that make mistakes and do wrong hopefully and most people dont make those mistakes after they see the negatives. Im not condoning it but america killed of the indians and raped the women. When the spanish settled mexico they did the same thing. Germany actually had regular citizens participate in many of the horrific things and they pretty much did.

Mit Google-Übersetzer : Google Translator: definite, the allied conflict criminals are escaping justice. The winner writes the background so as, even retroactively. The Allied conflict crimes, from politicians right down to the warriors who're now no longer punished for their crimes on the Germans and the eastern people, for the transport of the Cossacks to the communist criminals via the British, for the mass homicide of Dresden, for the "Christian blessed "atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the terrific conflict crimes in the background of mankind. We could desire to take care of the memory of the reality, we could desire to understand that we are one people and one race and the WW2 gin never finished, yet to this factor communicate with others maintains. 14 words .... international ! Why SHOULD Japan be punished, when Americans think they can literally get away with murder. and illegal invasion and starting war which never seems to finish? The Americans in their glass house should be wary of throwing the stones.

The same way all other nations are punished for the atrocities they commit in war. I am a Viet Nam Vet (the only war America has ever lost up to now ) I can say all acts of war should be considered international crimes.

I don't think collective punishment is appropriate. A lot of people were charged with war crimes and hung or imprisoned after WW2. As to why such people as the leaders of Unit 731 were not charged, you would have to ask the Americans. Personally, I think it's absolutely disgusting that Unit 731 members were let off scot-free, and then were able to regain postitions of reponsibility in Japanese society.

Then how should a world power of today be punished for their atrocities from WW2 to the present moment?

2006-12-06 01:13:11 · answer #7 · answered by ioana 3 · 2 0

Soft targets took all the punishment. Real perpetrators struck bargains with the top exploiters and divided the spoils of war. It's a fact of life as demonstrated by your agitating to punish soft targets as you can't touch the powerful behind their charisma.

No one should be punished for what was done by the previous generations. If you think that is appropriate, other nationalities have committed crimes in the name of war. Must they be punished too?

The point is: What is past is over, learn to let go.

I live in Japan right now, and also lived here 9 years ago for three years. I have an opposite point of view from the "poster" before me. The Japanese are taught in school (and I know, because I teach American students on-base, and have also been to the Japanese schools as a student, 9 years ago, and as a teacher, currently), to feel shame for their involvement in WWII.

The Japanese have the Peace Ceremony each year, in which they remember to regret becoming involved in WWII. It is a reminder to stay peaceful from now on.

Their consitution now, does not allow the military to become involved in the offense, such as us Americans in the Iraq War. The Japanese military is only allowed to operate in defense. The Japanese do not want a re-occurance of their mistakes and therefore will not take any offensive chances.

I've also had dinner with Col. Paul Tibbets, the pilot of the Enola Gay. The pilot who dropped the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. My father was a Commander in the USAF, and Col. Tibbets sat at our head table one evening in 1999. According to Tibbets, the Japanese have already been punished. Especially, undeserving civilians. Look up the horrific maiming caused by the bombs that scarred the faces of women and children. Those civilians were punished by the terrible choices of their government. That's punishment.

If the pilot who punished them himself has let it go, then so should we.
