I don't know, but if I smell straight vodka or rum my face will start to turn a little. If I drink beer my face is fine, but if I drink vodka after 2 my face is red, and I look like I have been running for miles..

Alcohol thins blood and seems to open your pores - I always feel a little warmer when I drink . You are probably really sensitive to it if you flush when smelling it - I suppose you might absorb something from the fumes. Maybe from tipping your head down to sniff as well causes some flushing?

We lived in Taiwan for many years, and we noticed that mostof our Chinese friends turned tomato colored after only a few sips of wine or beer (all we drank at the time). They say this also happens with most Native Americans. Something in the genes.

It could be an allergy. I have a friend who is allergic to most types of alcohol and basically when he is around alcohol his skin turns red. It might not be an allergy for you, if you have been drinking a lot is is natural for your cheeks to get rosy because alcohol thins the blood, but if it bothers you, I would mention it to my doctor during your next visit and see what he/she has to say.

because alcohol raises your blood pressure. I don't think the smell has anything to do with it (unless it brings back vivid memories...smile).
