In iraq just now, we normally just get washing and stuff done, there is a bit of internet access, but no bars or anything, i think we are allowed 1 can at christmas though, that should be good. Its not too bad though, you work late so you just want to go straight to bed anyway, it makes the time go quicker too.

Well it all depends. For one there are no bars or clubs on the bases. There are gyms, internet cafes, small restaurants like pizza hut and subway. Small movie theaters and libraries. The amount of time you have off depends on what type of job you have. I think I had a total of 2 days off the whole 7 months I was there. I spent most of my free time reading.

the only pastime in Iraq is the sequestering of oil factors. the fact that human beings do no longer provide a monkey's curse approximately ordinary Iraqi civilians is all to clean, and is why they are going to on no account win any comprehend or co-operation from them. The human beings pick to barter with the elite of Iraq, in return for agreements to grant usa with oil. in the event that they actually cared approximately Iraqi's, they might do greater to alleviate the tensions between Sunni and Shia, besides the undeniable fact that it fits them to have a semblance of civil conflict interior the country. Divide and triumph over, and all that. As for Afghanistan, hundreds of thousands of yank taxpayers money became into used to help the 'resistance warring parties' (or is that terrorists?) while the Russians occupied the territory. at that element, the Taliban resisted tries by the Russians to have females knowledgeable and supply women greater effective freedoms. The human beings supported the Taliban in that resistance. lots for female emancipation. it form of feels that each and every of the 'concepts' that human beings carry so expensive mean no longer something if advertisement pastimes are in touch. Why are we in touch in Afghanistan? Who stands to learn? no longer Afghan civilians, it is for particular. enable's be common. The human beings will basically be finished in Afghanistan while in spite of company pastime that seeks to learn from their presence there has have been given what they desire.

I doubt if they have bars but they do have recreation centers, movies and that sort of thing. Most Islamic cultures officially frown on alcohol use and it doesn't promote military effectiveness either, as the Hessions learned at the Battle of Trenton in the Revolutionary War.

I beleive from my brother who has been serving out in iraq that they have entertainment when they are not on active duty. Apparently though they spend there time climitising and preparing for action by doing 'live' training.

Since they are fighting in a Muslim Country that forbids the use of alcohol, I doubt that there are any bars. If military personnel have some down time, they need it to rest, do laundry, get their gear in order. Except for the occasional USO, they have no entertainment there.
