I read on some silly website(can't remember now) that the prophet(s.a.w.) never once described Allah/God to the people. This was the author attempt to discredit islam.

A brief description of nature of God (Allah):

The word Allah is the essential personal name of God. There is no ilah other that the one Great Being known by the name "Allah"
The nature of Allah is here indicated to us in a few words, such as we can understand. Here we are specially taught to avoid the pitfall into which men and nations have fallen at various times in trying to understand Allah.

● His nature is so sublime, so far beyond our limited conceptions, that the best way in which we can realise Him is to feel that He is a Personality, 'He', and not a mere abstract conception of philosophy. He is near us; He cares for us; we owe our existence to Him.

● He is the One and Only God, the Only One to Whom worship is due; all other things or beings that we can think of are His creatures and in no way comparable to Him.

● He is Eternal, without beginning or end, Absolute, not limited by time or place or circumstance, the Reality.

● We must not think of Him as Having a son or a father, for that would be to import animal qualities into our conception of Him.

● He is not like any other person or thing that we know or can imagine: His qualities and nature are unique.

He is All Powerful, Ruler and Master of all, who requires no partners nor has any offspring or family. God is Omnipotent and He is the Creator and Nourisher of the Universe and everything therein; the seen and the unseen, and He it is who takes care of all worlds. God is also Omniscient, Absoletely Just, Most Honorable, Most Excellent, Most Benevolent, Most Compassionate. He has no beginning and no end. He is Unique and spouseless. He is not born nor does He give birth, but He creates. He has control over the Universe and will be sole Jude on the Day of Judgement. To a Muslim, Allah is the Almighty, Creator and Sustainer of the universe, Who is similar to nothing and nothing is comparable to HIM.

■ Qualitative names of Allah in Qur'an:

THE qualities of Allah are described in numerous places in the Holy Quran. According to Ilmu al-Tauhid, the qualities of Allah are described as:

* Wujud which means the Existence;
* Qidam, the First without a beginning;
* Baqa, the Eternal without an end;
* Mukhalafatuhulil hawadith, the Difference from orginated things;
* Qiamuhubinafsih, the Self-sufficing;
* Wahdaniah, the Oneness in person, qualities and works;
* Qudrat, The Mighty without any limbs or gear;
* Iradat, He wills all learning and thinking;
* Hayat, He lives without life of breath, food or water;
* Sami',He hears without ears;
* Basar, He Sees without eyes or light;
* Kalam, he speaks without words, voice or language;
* Allpowerfull; All-knowing; Everliving, Allhearing; all-seeing.

EDIT: "Doesn't the Quran giv God about 99 atributes or discriptions?"

The best possible description or introduction for God Almighty is in Sura Ikhlas that is 112th. surah in qura'n:

Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem.

In the name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful.

"Say! He is God, the One!
The Eternally Besought of all!
He does not beget, nor is He begotten.
and there is nothing comparable to Him."

Qul huwallaahu ahad
Say: He is Allah, The One and Only

Allaahus samad
Allah, The Independent

Lum yalid wa lam yoolud
He begets not, and nor was He begotten

Walum yakullahu kufuwan ahad
And there is none comparable to Him.

By the way 99 names can not cover unlimited God. Those 99 names or attributes are just to give us some understanding according to human limited intellectual mind.

The description of God is mentioned many many times in the Qur'an. It is not a full, perfect description but the glorious parts of it.

Every time the Qur'an mention "Your God is", it gives a description of HIM (swt).

Do you know the 99 names of God?... Each name has a description.

God is too Holy for us to imagine, but remember that the greatest reward in the here after is not entering the heavens, but is looking at the glory of God's face.

Peace and guidance be upon us all.

First of all it must be known who the God of heaven is, since upon that all the other things depend. Throughout all heaven no other than the Lord alone is acknowledged as the God of heaven. There it is said, as He Himself taught,

That He is one with the Father; that the Father is in Him, and He in the Father; that he who sees Him sees the Father; and that everything that is holy goes forth from Him (John 10:30, 35; 14:9-11; 16:13-15).

I have often talked with angels on this subject, and they have invariably declared that in heaven they are unable to divide the Divine into three, because they know and perceive that the Divine is One and this One is in the Lord. They also said that those of the church who come from this world having an idea of three Divine beings cannot be admitted into heaven, since their thought wanders from one Divine being to another; and it is not allowable there to think three and say one.{1} Because in heaven everyone speaks from his thought, since speech there is the immediate product of the thought, or the thought speaking. Consequently, those in this world who have divided the Divine into three, and have adopted a different idea of each, and have not made that idea one and centered it in the Lord, cannot be received into heaven, because in heaven there is a sharing of all thoughts, and therefore if any one came thinking three and saying one, he would be at once found out and rejected. But let it be known that all those who have not separated what is true from what is good, or faith from love, accept in the other life, when they have been taught, the heavenly idea of the Lord, that He is the God of the universe. It is otherwise with those who have separated faith from life, that is, who have not lived according to the precepts of true faith (Heaven and Hell n.2).

Sura - 112 Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas)
Order Of Revelation 22, Verses: 4

[112:0] In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

[112:1] Proclaim, "He is the One and only GOD.

[112:2] "The Absolute GOD.

[112:3] "Never did He beget. Nor was He begotten.

[112:4] "None equals Him."

2:255] GOD: there is no other god besides Him, the Living, the Eternal. Never a moment of unawareness or slumber overtakes Him. To Him belongs everything in the heavens and everything on earth. Who could intercede with Him, except in accordance with His will? He knows their past, and their future. No one attains any knowledge, except as He wills. His dominion encompasses the heavens and the earth, and ruling them never burdens Him. He is the Most High, the Great.

God

[24:35] GOD is the light of the heavens and the earth. The allegory of His light is that of a concave mirror behind a lamp that is placed inside a glass container. The glass container is like a bright, pearl-like star. The fuel thereof is supplied from a blessed oil-producing tree, that is neither eastern, nor western. Its oil is almost self-radiating; needs no fire to ignite it. Light upon light. GOD guides to His light whoever wills (to be guided). GOD thus cites the parables for the people. GOD is fully aware of all things.

[24:36] (God's guidance is found) in houses exalted by GOD, for His name is commemorated therein. Glorifying Him therein, day and night -

Greatness of God*

[39:67] They can never fathom the greatness of GOD. The whole earth is within His fist on the Day of Resurrection. In fact, the universes are folded within His right hand. Be He glorified; He is much too high above needing any partners.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*39:67 Our universe, with its billion galaxies, a billion trillion stars, uncountable decillions of heavenly bodies, spanning many billions of light-years, is the smallest and innermost of seven universes. This incomprehensible vastness of the seven universes is within God's hand. Such is the greatness of God. See Appendix 6.

One God
[21:21] Have they found gods on earth who can create?

[21:22] If there were in them (the heavens and the earth) other gods beside GOD, there would have been chaos. Glory be to GOD; the Lord with absolute authority. He is high above their claims.

Never Question God's Wisdom
[21:23] He is never to be asked about anything He does, while all others are questioned.

[21:24] Have they found other gods beside Him? Say, "Show me your proof. This is the message to my generation, consummating all previous messages." Indeed, most of them do not recognize the truth; this is why they are so hostile.

One God/One Message/One Religion
[21:25] We did not send any messenger before you except with the inspiration: "There is no god except Me; you shall worship Me alone."

[21:26] Yet, they said, "The Most Gracious has begotten a son!" Glory be to Him. All (messengers) are (His) honored servants.

[21:27] They never speak on their own, and they strictly follow His commands.

The Myth of Intercession
[21:28] He knows their future and their past. They do not intercede, except for those already accepted by Him, and they are worried about their own necks.

[21:29] If any of them claims to be a god beside Him, we requite him with Hell; we thus requite the wicked.

The Prophet Muhammad spent fifteen years teaching the early Muslims every aspect of Allah, His physical attributes, names and more.This is called tawhid (monotheism) and is the most important aspect of every muslims, belief, spiritual practice and guidance.

It is amazing how it’s human nature to assume that because we believe or don’t believe something, that makes it true. Some may not believe in the law of gravity, and may feel they have "evidence" to back up their belief. However, gravity exists whether they believe in it or not. The truth is, God is knowable. Jesus testified, "And this is life eternal, that they might know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent" (John 17:3). We not only have the testimony of the Scriptures to tell us this, but we have the testimony of multitudes of Christians who know the Lord personally. It is more truthful to say, "I don’t want to know God." Sinful man runs from Him as did Adam in the garden of Eden.
