Your best bet is to take a metered taxi from the airport as it is point to point. Just make sure that the driver turns on the meter and if he refuses to do so, find another taxi. There are hundreds to choose from. The cost will not include the tollway charges. I have heard figures of between 250 to 550 Thai Baht for the journey. Beware of black and yellow cabs and drivers inside the airport touting for trade. These are rip off merchants.

Take the Meter Taxi outside the Airport and travel via the Meter or Agree a Price First.
The Driver should go via the Metor, But he knows the Cost to the Asia so he will know the Fair.
I always ask the Taxi Meter Drivers on their Ranks in Bangkok how much they will charge when I go somewhere outside BKK and as I go along the Line the Price always gets Cheaper.
May be worth a Try at the Airport

Taxi would be quicker as you likely will have to wait for the shuttle bus to arrive and/or wait for all the other passengers to get on the bus. There are plenty to taxis ready to take you. Just make sure you use the meter. And if you want to use the toll way - you will have to pay. But, really, the cost is not an issue here.

Taxi! My office is not too far from the new airport! there is a lot traffic during that time! There is a 50 taxi airport fee... on top of the meter fee... but it is the fastest way to get to your hotel!
Good luck

Cheap and fast wont go thogether in your situation. About the cheapest and quickest would be to q-up and take the meter taxi....suggest you know how to get where you are going....would not want to hear that the meter was run up on you.....
good luck....slow down....have fun!!!!!!!!!!
