My fiance and I bought our first truck together July 3, 06. He was in Iraq. I made all the purchase etc. I traded in my chevy, that I miss and regret selling to Toyota as down payment.

Parts and service is horrible. Gives attitude. Automatically thinking I don't know nothing about vehicles. I fought tooth and nail. it took a threat of getting my lawyer involved to get the roof repainted. Never checked the roof until 2 mth later when washing. Unproper paint job. Paperwork from paint shop estimate was done.

My heating went out over the weekend. they said "someone was kicking under the dash causing the wire to detach". 1) no one was in passenger all weekend. 2) If so, why was "wire" exposed (which wasn't...) and automatically placing blame on human other than it simply could of came "unhooked". They said the heating was fixed. It isn't. Still gave warm almost cold air. Then 30 mins into my driving, it rushed hair, came on hot. Yet the dial is "different" on turning and air pressure

When I called toyota 20 min later, I told them i am bringing it this weekend, dropping it off for 10 hours. I expect it to be fixed this time. No one did any altering (another thing they accused). My fiance drives it when he is home on weekends from san diego base.

My fiance mentioned how the head lights would stay on a few times when they automatically shut off when open the door with engine off. Which other people told me that isnt suppose to happen. Lights r hot in short time.

I am a little nervous on this truck having so many problems. We are to the point with the bad service we been recieving that after paid off at end of next year, we are going to sell it or trade for different company (Loyal chevy customer).

Until then, has anyone had any problems with service or Tundra's? I know there is a lot of recalls on Tacoma's and I am hopen won't be the same for the Tundra's as my patient and stress is now limited.

btw, I just gave 2 senarios out of many to keep it short!

I called Rep in Sacramento. That was the problem. He gave me the run around saying that have to call me back etc. I was the one constantly calling them back as the refused. Finally, my fiance as a Marine got a little hasty with them and finally said they will send a rep to Bakersfield (where I bought and go to school). I reside in Tulare County. Rep would not come out until "he" wanted to when he "got time" as I was told. I went to body shop and hounded toyota. They offically hate seeing me as much as I hate seeing them. I dislike being...harsh but enough is enough ya know? Finally one guy after dealing with 4 said he will get it done when I said my laywer will give them a call that week.

I got my oil changed last month. 29 mins or less or free right? I paid at 28 mins. 10 mins later, no truck still. They brought me 3 trucks! 20 mins later, I got my truck. I am going to re-call Corporation on that.

About how I regret it. They told me "sorry you feel that way.". That was it..

thank you and any information you have to offer is appreciated. I just want us to enjoy this truck and look at it as a nice present to eachother for anniv rather than looking outside seeing it as a stresser.

On the way to San Deigo, I thought about stoping in Irvine and seeing what they come up with. I talk to the one in Visalia and they said that unless they see it, they can't give information on what to do.......said that a Rep has to see it at that time. Which that wasn't going anywhere. My mom thinks that if one more thing goes on and they can't "fix" properly, that I should turn it in. However, a person told me I can't as a lemon if engine is good. To which, I have no complaints, so far, on the engine.

I haven't hooked our horse trailor to it yet in fear they will use that "against me" if I find another issue...but I plan to anyways to make sure the hook up is proper. etc.

This isnt the original truck we wanted. should been more aggressive on price as could got cheaper.

OH MY GOD

I'm a retired Toyota Service Manager. This is just awful.
So are you dealing with the service manager or service writer,or the Toyota Rep.?
You need to only talk with the service manager, owner of the dealership,or the Toyota Factory Rep.I would call the service manager and tell him you want the factory Rep involved in your trucks problems NOW.If he gives you the run around ask him for the factory phone number.Call the number ask for the Factory Rep for that dealership. You may want to ask the service manager for the dealerships number(every dealer has a number)that way when you get to talk with the Rep you can give him the dealers number.Explain all your problems you have had.Tell him you now Hate Toyota and will not ever buy another one.Tell him you need your truck repaired and repaired correctly.I'm sorry you have had that many problems,it could be the dealers auto techs.they could be your problem and not the truck.Anyway get that going ASAP.I live in Sacramento Ca and Toyota has a Factory office here in Sac.If your in Calif.email me and I will get the phone number for you.my email is lplysocr@aol.com.I would like to you see happy with your truck. Please let me know what happens. If you live in Calif and near Sacramento I know a service manager here real well.I can get info from him to help you...........................

hope I have helped you Larry

2006 Toyota Tundra Problems

Last year Toyota had the most recalls, but the media "failed" to notice since millions would stand against them because of thier reputation. These days reputation is nothing, technology advances so fast it cant keep up. For ex: three years ago GM was one of the worst companies, now they have the most top-rated vehicles, and the quality/reliability surpasses Toyota. Honda is still on top of the reliability ratings. Ford also had more recalls than GM and DaimlerChrysler combined, for reasons like exploding engines and wheels falling off. Here is a quote from the Washington Posts review of the Toyota CAmry "one of which is the Chevrolet Malibu, which in my real-world driving experience has been every bit as good and reliable as the much-ballyhooed Camry but has been maligned primarily because it is a Chevrolet". Oddly enough that was an '04 Malibu VS the totally redisigned '07 Camry. Common problems with Toyotas are plastic rattling until it falls off. People then complain that when they take it to the dealer to be fixed they just say "The cars are made with so much plastic its practically impossible to fix" GM is also the worlds fastest growing manufacturer, and that dosent happen by accident. This may explain alot, the new Chevys/GMC's are the best in the class. The new interiors are also extremely improved.

Sorry to hear about your problems but I have to laugh (not at you though) because of everyones perceived impression that if it says Toyota on it nothing will ever go wrong with it or it is just such a great built vehicle. I would suggest you send this same exact letter to Consumers Reports cause they are the biggest Toyota nut huggers on the planet. Tell them that they are full of it for thinking Toyotas are superior to everything else. Also you should have kept your chevy and waited for the new silverado, those are nice trucks. Or you could have gotten a Dodge Ram, in my opinion the best truck you can buy.

Truly a horrible tale. I just don't think Toyota makes 'em like they used to. Maybe it's because the Tundra is made in the U.S.? If you're going to be pulling a trailer I would strongly advise against the under-powered and under-sprung Tundra--but I guess it's a little late for that, eh?

New cars have always seemed to be to be more trouble than they are worth.

Look at the sheer # of US produced cars being recalled.

I own a 1971 MGB/GT, a 1978 MGB, and a 1978 BMW.

All run like tops.

If I were you, I would make Ford take back this Lemon, threaten to write to a newspaper, call your Congressman, whatever it takes.

Then buy a car made before 1985. These are the cars mechanics can still fix.

The problem with New cars is they all contain technology that mechanics have not yet gotten training or equipment to fix.

Give me a car with a carburator.........I can fix it, computer controlled.............not so much.

Google Lemon Laws.

Looks like you got the first one made on Monday morning. Contact the state attorney general and invoke the lemon law.
