I know that its like 7 dog years for every human year but I has once told that the first year or so its more. & i just want to know what the actual calculation is.

Well I have a 3 week old Pitbull, terrier mix. I'm told he should get pretty big.

you are right-actually the puppy tends to be more like a teenager by one then an adult 21 year old by 2 then it evens out to 7 years to each year after that. think about it they are full grown adults by their first year!!

Yes it is said 7 yrs to 1 human year and small dogs have longer life span than large dogs but a lot of well cared for dogs outlive their , "use buy date"

1 human year is 7 dog years. Atleast that's what I have been told.

7 years is the general term, but it varies for different size dogs.
Larger dogs are more than 7 per year - so expected to live a lesser amount of human years.
Small, miniature dogs are less than 7 per human year, therefore life expectancy is more human years.
I read the chart at my local vet recently, It did have specific years on it, but i cant remember , sorry

I don't think that one equasion is accurate for all breeds of dog. Typically larger breeds don't have the same life expectancy as smaller breeds. Larger dogs are also more prone to age related illnesses earlier than their smaller counterparts. My parent's Irish Wolfhound developed arthritis around age 7 because of her size, and my neighbor's Jack Russels are flipping around like puppies in their teens. So, in short, it all depends on the breed(s).
