Air Purifiers?

Hi! - I am trying to find one that is not so expensive and really works well. I saw some by Oreck and Ionic Breeze but they range from $350-$650. I need it badly, right away but I don't really have $650 to spend. (I think that's the model that works well in a fairly large size room). Have mold issues and a child with severe allergy. Any advice or recommendations?

I bought an Oreck 2000 from the internet for $200. I like it because you don't have to buy a filter. You just wash it when it is dirty. It will filter 800 sq. ft.
