Awesome? yes. Efficient - absolutely NOT!!!!!
I was there a month after it opened and it was extreme chaos rules!

I do appreciate there would be teething problem but this was totally unacceptable. I was travelling with a companion who uses a electric wheelchair and nobody knows what they were supposed to do nor able to tell us what we should do to board the plane correctly before they take the chair away to put into the cargo hold.

Hardly anyone spoke English - unlike the old airport where everyone knows at least some English and were able to direct us (luckily I can speak Thai)

Anyway - enough ranting. The airport is majestic but it does not make a good airport if it doesn't work. I am going again next year - hopefully it will be running smoothly by then.

its huge & new...if you compare to the old airport.
however, the flow of its operations are so painfully long. they have yet to implement the standard operation procedures smoothly.
when you arrived @ the airport, everything freeze-
-the checkpoints are slow (slower than the then-new hong kong airport when it first operated)...the staff is unsure of their new computer system, i guess.
-nobody tells you when you can retrieve your luggages. imagine how big the airport is....when you ask the staff, you get different answers *faints*... finally, retrieve my luggage after 2 hours, when my friends & i went on our seperate ways to check on every conveyor belt.
-all brochures & maps are ONLY in thai language *faints* NO ENGLISH MAPS!? luckily, i've been to bkk several times, & are quite familiar with the place.
