I would like to paint the bathroom to make it look fresh and updated. Right now the colour in there is a drab off white YUCK! My landlord has okayed new paint in this room as long as I choose a colour she can agree with me on. My bath mat, "toilet hugger" mat, and shower curtains are all a dark navy blue. I also have one mat in front of my sink which is blue with fish on it as the the theme of my bathroom is fish (for the kids). What coulour would you suggest? Something that my landlord will agree on that is not TOO drastic yet will look nice with my decor.

Are you against an off white? If not a beautiful color by Benjamin Moore that would look nice in a bathroom is called Gentle Cream. Another that would look bright and clean is called Straw Hat. It's neutral and would flatter the existing navy elements of the room so everything would look crisp and the blue could pop.

no matter if it really is positioned on and tear after 5 years, no. the owner won't be able to ask you to pay the expenses in this one to fix the belongings to "the way it change into earlier the tenancy began" as this constitutes betterment. there's a precedent in regulation that calls for Landlords to assume to take "lifelike positioned on and tear" into consideration. imagine of it this way, there is an pretty basic technique for determining how a lot might want to be omitted by way of "positioned on and tear", which follows the less than formulation: A) the fee of an same equivalent or alternative merchandise. B) the truly age of the unique fixture, setting up, carpet, paint or merchandise. C) the conventional existence expectancy of the unique fixture, setting up, carpet, paint or merchandise (for interior paint, its' between 5-10 years given high quality and site). D) the most suitable existence expectancy, calculated through the sum of (C) - (B). E) Depreciation in protecting with 12 months, to be calculated at (A) divided through (C). F) the entire that would want to correctly be exceeded on to a tenant, calculated at (E) x (D). If the fee of repainting the walls includes decrease than the prescribed total, then he won't be able to fairly ask you for any funds at in contact by this. Having been in a up to date criminal dispute with a former landlord over this style of stuff (in the united kingdom), this does truly artwork. reward x

I think a pale to medium yellow would make the bathroom, bright and energenic yet sophisticated looking with the navy blue. I wouldn't go with a dark color, because this will make the room look small. You could go with a typical "bathroom color" (i.e. peach, beige) but I think yellow is not used enough. I'm pretty sure yellow would be an easy color to paint over when you decide to move out. Yellow to me is also a very versitile color that you can use to create a sophisticated yet fun look. Have fun decorating!

Off-white, huh? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Sheesh. Let's have some fun....
* Go with "sea-foam green"
* get some starfish and shells on the walls,
* make a new shower curtain by combining a fishing net with that dark blue plastic curtain behind it, attach shells into the net.
* Put some goldfish on the counter...
* Get some bamboo at the hardware store and attach it to the shower rod or replace the shower rod with bamboo...
* Make up a small life-preserver donut for the wall that says "HMS Titanic" or "SS Minow" (Gilligan's Island)....

Cause its a rental I would stick with a netural color, then add to it with the molding or tiles. Or just have your kids paint fish on the walls and make the rest look like you are looking up from the bottom of the ocean floor. Be as creative as you want the only thing they do is not give you your deposit back.

Go find some wallpaper border you like, find 3 different paint colors that you like to go with it take a sample to your landlord and ask if ok to put up (it is easy enough to take off and replace), and present the paint choices you made and let landlord chose the one she is ok with.
I was in a rental once that had a blah bathroom with smoke stains, so I put a fresh coat of blah paint on, one shade lighter though, and put up border and that border is what really enhanced the room and brought it back to life. You can accessorize too, have fun with it!

Definitely go with a medium shade of yellow. It will look clean and sophisticated, contrast fantastically with the blue and I doubt your landlord would be opposed. Have fun!

a light blue. any new renter I think could decorate with a light blue since a lot of people use the ocean as decor. Also, it's enough of a change that could make you happy
