Everytime Acts talks about death of Jesus, it says he was hanged on a tree (Acts 5:30, 10:39, 13:29).

It is "tree" in KJV and NIV (look it up on on www.biblegateway.com), some other translations interpret tree as cross.

Hanging is not crucifiction, it is way faster, even instant if done right (it breaks the neck rather than strangles). Hence no suffering to atone for our sins?

Why couldn't they make it more consistent?

The used words "crucifiction" and "cross" in Mattew, Mark, Luke and John. Why couldn't Peter or Paul or whoever wrote Acts use same words?

Jesus was hung on a cross which was made out of wood which comes from a tree. Thats what they mean because there was no Hebrew word for wood.

You are aware that ACTS was written by the same man that wrote matthew and luke right?

Crucifixion was a fairly common form of execution during Jesus' time. And, it may very well have been done with a tree on occasion, it certainly is possible. And, Jesus wasn't the only "Savior" in history. There were several so called "Savior" gods, men who were supposedly killed (often by Crucifixion) who then rose from the dead to achieve god status, during that time period.

Considering those few factors alone, isn't it possible that the original author of "Acts" got his mythologies wrong? Maybe the version he heard was a little different than the one heard by the writers of the other gospels. After all, don't many American cities today have their own version of the "Lady in White" urban legend?

When they crucify someone they are still hanging on the cross that is made of wood that comes from a tree.
If you have hold of a rope, and that is the only thing keeping you from falling, because your feet are not touching anything, are you not hanging from the rope? Same thing with monkey bars, a tree, a ceiling fan, etc.

Being "hung on a tree", is not at ALL inconsistet with crucifixion! The "tree", IS the cross. The cross is made of wood from a tree. You are hung there, by nails, to die, and with rope to keep arms in place. They are one and the same. They were NOT talking about ever hanging from a rope. Judas hung himself that way though, they are two totally different things.

At least seven other Man-Gods born of virgins died the exact same way. A bit odd is it not!

does the first person answering realy believe the hebrews had no word for wood or lumber.
That is just insanely foolish.
Of course they knew how to say words for lumber and timber. They described building temples, boats, cabinet work. That would be hard to do with no vocabulary.

I was reading my Bible today and I came across that very passage. The cross which he hung on was made of wood, which is in essence a tree, and he was hung by nails. I think Peter was stressing the point that God gave us his only son to save us and look what they did to him? its not necessarily contradicting.

ps: as a side note, This very passage led me to a discussion with someone that was rather interesting, where we discussed the fact that the tree of life in the garden of Eden is now inaccessible to us humans, and the only one who could get around this was of course God. So he sent His only son to actually become the new tree of life. by eating of the tree of life we shall live forever, a.k.a. the body and blood of Jesus Christ.

Yikes I feel sorry for you. It is so well documented,The very long torturous death of Jesus. After having thorns in His head and being beaten and whipped to near death, He has to carry the cross Himself as He was ridiculed and spat on. they say tree, as the cross was made from wood, a tree.He hung on that cross in agony a very long time.

you are assuming "hanging" refers to a rope placed around the neck...It could just mean being supported by something other than the ground....often things are lost in translations...for example if a young child was hanging from the monkey bars...Im thinking the kid is just playing...
