My boyfriend will be late tonight from work, so I want to cook him a meal. I have some steaks that are thawing right now. Any creative ideas? We always have steak and potatoes, so I would like to do something else. I thank you in advance for you suggestions!

of course he's at work! He's manager, he's closing, and I trust him. Thanks for all the suggestions so far. But he is just gonna bring something home since its almost 3am. Maybe tomorrow night.

Steaks in wine:
Two cups red wine boiled to reduction until it is like syrup

Brown the steaks in butter take out of the pan

If you have mushrooms brown them in the butter with one clove chopped garlic -

Put a splash of stock or red wine to deglaze the pan and stir add the wine syrup (can add 2 tables spoons heavy cream and 1 tablespoon brandy with some green brined peppercorns or not but this addition of these ingredients makes it really special) - boil 3 to 5 minutes - Add the steaks and turn off the heat. Spoon the sauce on to the plate and top the steak with some mushrooms; can put some sauce on the top of the steak - serve the rest at table in a gravy dish.

Serve with noodles or mashed potatoes or pan fries.

Spread Dijon (or any kind will do) mustard on the steaks. Season with salt and pepper.
Broil or grill as usual.
Bake those potatoes, and make them into twice baked potatoes: scoop out the white meaty portion of the potato, mix with some shredded cheddar cheese, snipped chives, crumbled bacon, and sour cream. Stuff back into the potato shells, and bake again.
Serve with a tossed green salad, some good red wine, and ENJOY!

When you've got potatoes, why do anything else? Why not make up a gravy, with fried mushrooms & onions in it, and put it over your steak & baked potato? You can put the potato in the microwave (poke a knife in the top first) and cover it with a plastic lid. Put it in for 15 minutes on high power. By the time the microwave dings, your steak should be ready, especially if you fried the onions & mushrooms with your steak. Very yummy! <*)))><

first off make sure he is doing work and that is why he is going to be late b/4 you waste your time and ingredients but once you do that and find out he is doing what he is supposed to then if you have some hamburger meat and a can of peas and carrots do a Shepard's pie it is good ohhh yeah and some cheese not to mention it is your meat and potatoes but in a different way and it is fast to whip up first brown your hamburger meat drain off the grease then add your can of peas and carrots and mix together in a side bowl mix up your mashed potatoes season to taste and then get a casserole dish put in veggies and hamburger and then top with potatoes thick like your topping a cake and then top that with shredded cheese and toss in the oven until cheese is melted mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm you'll have him eating out of your hands and he will take you shopping tomorrow and girl if you have a can of biscuits in the freezer bake some up perfect side to this hearty dish ~bon appetite~Chef Abby
