Yes. They're allowed to resign, but no pope has done so in centuries.

It is a lifetime job which he cannot resign or retire from but it is my belief that a committee of cardinals can remove him if he is not up to the task but i could be wrong about that.

Yes, the Pope can resign or retire.

Popes should come with an expiration date, and message kind of like "throw out after 90 days" or something like that.
