My 13 week old kitten seems to have fleas. We bought some Zodiac powder but it occurs to me that he is walking around with pesticide on him. How is that not going to harm him when he grooms himself? The package says nothing about what to do after brushing the fleas off. Does the powder just fall off? Am I supposed to wash it off? Now I am really worried about it.

Dont wash it off unless you have put a huge amount and the kitten has turned white !

Ideally you just sprinkle a little on.

Since your kitten is so young it is best to ask the vet for the best treatment.

I think you should wash it off. first put the flea powder on and brush through and use a flea Com , they help catch loads of fleas. make sure to use appropriate shampoos. Use flea and tick or any shampoo that you may find in the pet aisle or at pet smart . make-sure the cat doesn't get any in her mouth. also, don't pile the powder on , sprinkle lightly and brush through, then wash. Don't breath or swallow any yourself also.
**hope this helps !!

Yes you should wash it off ASAP but use a very very very dilute CAT formula shampoo. Zodiac is not a good brand, and u shouldn't put anything like that on a cat. They groom themselves and they will lick it off! Stick to advantage or frontline.

when i used to rub flea powder on my cats, I always dusted off or wipe off the excess powder from their fur. The powder is supposed to go on the surface of the cat's skin - under all that fur. That's why you're supposed to rub it in by stroking against the lay of their fur - you know, stroking upwards from base of tail to nape, etc. Then you wipe off any excess so your cat wont ingest the powder.
