Has it taken years away from your life as you've wasted hours upon hours with fear and anxiety? I have some OCD and I can say yes to this, but what is your experience.......perhaps it hasn't affected you as much?

Oh, yes. OCD can be exhausting. It is a result of anxiety where other coping mechanisms are not present. The compulsion to do certain rituals has brought me to tears. And I think I will explode if I don't get that certain song out of my head. The anxiety is overwhelming at times. However, medication has helped tremendously. It is now somewhat manageable. It can be a debilitating illness.

I got a couple of OCD behaviors that I just can't seem to lose. I.E. I tear off labels off my beers before drinking them. I can't do something knowing that a cupboard or pantry door is open near me. Gotta lock all doors. I can't have shoes on inside my house (childhood upbringing). But these are all really tiny annoyances in my life. I wouldn't say they necessarily have hindered anything about my life. If anything, people just make fun of me and move on. But I wouldn't say these were serious issues for me. So...no, I'm not depressed by these. But there are many people out there, maybe you, who have a way bigger issue with this disorder. I feel bad for them.

I've developed OCD on Yahoo answers forum, I feel compelled to answer questions even though I don't know what or care if I gain points or not. Before that I had OCD about crosswalk buttons. Before that it was tripping car alarms..................
