It seems like they only get their little pinch of pleasure from trying to antagonize others, so sad.

I am Atheist and I am sarcastic. :)

I wouldn't say all are sarcastic, but most I know are. They have no reason to spread disbelief, while Christians do have reason to spread belief. Atheists tend to be more arrogant, but that may be a problem in how people view them. I have no qualm with atheism, but few atheists I know don't resort to the "SO DO YOU BELIEVE IN A FLYING SPAGHETTI MONSTER?" argument. There is plenty of evidence for God if you look for it, there is none for a flying spaghetti monster. Could a spaghetti monster explain philosophical, and nartual notions and origins? No. Did a spaghetti monster spread good word and morals to humanity? No. Have people had apparitions of anything related to a flying spaghetti monster? Well, probably, but in a much different way. If you're going to point out "oh so clever" paradoces like that, then refute the first cause argument.

Rather than assigning motivations to them, consider this: patience has its limits.

*I* get impatient and feel like being sarcastic when I read the same stupid "Can you prove God doesn't exist, huh, huh,can ya can ya? Didn't think so!" kind of thing, and also the amazingly ignorant questions like "Why do atheists care about religion?" or "Why do Atheists bother to get married?.

And I am emphatically religious and not an atheist.

BTW, I also get VERY bored with the "Could God make an elephant so pink He couldn't look at it?" type of infantile questions.

And bigoted snarky questions about anyone's religion.

So sad? You want to know what is "so sad"?

Comments like "Atheists are really here because they know we'll lead them to the "ONE ONLY TRUE ANSWER!" or "They're actually afraid of God and afraid of THE TRUTH" and utter crap like that.

AND comments like "They really know that they're delusional, but they don't want to give up their invisible friend in the sky security blankets".

What's "so sad" is assigning those kinds of uncharitable motivations to others. On either/any side.

And I firmly believe that saying those things says a lot about the person saying them

None of it good.

I find it really hard to take religion seriously when it is constantly thrown at me day in and day out. The worlds going to end - thats been happening for how years now? If I don't find God, I'll end up in hell, oh no.

When religious fanatics stop treating me like I'm some kind of roadkill on the road to paradise, then I'll stop being sarcastic. I'm an overall good person, and if your loving "God" does in fact exist, then I'm sure s/he will say that being a good person is all you need to be.

Perhaps so sad, but perhaps just goofy and pathetic. Let them have their "pleasure", if that does it for them. I have always found it interesting, that atheists love to come and talk about that "big purple elephant" that doesn't exist in the room, and why, etc. If it doesn't exist, why all the hullabaloo? If they are SO confident, why hang out in the christian chat rooms, or controversial rooms, and engage christians, etc. All for nothing? I think not..... I agree though, they think they are rather clever or something for making sarcastic comments.

Yes, in fact in the real world you wouldn't even be able to pick an Atheist out of a crowd I bet. But you see, you're on Yahoo Answers and there are so many rude and mean people just trying to get your goat, and it's worked. Sorry to say........I have seen a decline on here of people with sincere answers and questions. It use to be fun to get on here and answer people's misconceptions of my religion, but after just a few minutes on here, I see just how bad it's become. Hang in there, I have to say, that I have come across a few very rude Christians also. It has nothing to do with a persons beliefs , but more to do with the individual and their issues. Some people have not learn to respect others and or treat them with civility. It's the world that we live in.......

You need wit to be sarcastic, so... Actually, no, I don't know any non-sarcastic atheists. I didn't know any non-sarcastic nuns or priests when I went to Catholic school, either. And I don't hear anything on right-wing radio but sarcasm. So it's a sarcastic world. Grow a backbone and get over it.

I believe I am an atheist and I am not sarcastic. I think it is the other way. When I tell people my beliefs they are VERY nasty, mean, sarcastic, condecending....you name it. I belive everyone needs to be happy but there is not just one path to get there. If your gay your gay....if your an atheist then your an atheist...if your catholic...then so be it....

Why can't we just let people live and be happy in their own right?

>Has there ever been a non-sarcastic atheist in existence ?

Yes. Many are my friends. Like non-antagonistic people of any group, they just don't whine as much.

No different than the Christians who score points off of them as well, antagonizing the atheists

Has there ever been a non-self-righteous religious person in existance? It seems like they only get their little pinch of pleasure from trying to preach to others, condemn people to hell, act holier-than-thou, and generally being stuck-up sticky-beaks, so sad.
