"Say: we believe in God and in what has been revealed to us, and what was revealed to Abraham, Isma'il: Isaac, Jacob and The Tribes, and in (the Books) given to Moses, Jesus and the Prophets, from their Lord: We make no distinction between one and another, among them, and to God do we bow our will (in Islam)." (Qur'an, Al-Imran 3:84)

Of course you can. If i study Islam all my life there are still new things to learn. Its impossible to know everything before becoming a Muslim. I have no need for new testaments or old testaments i have my Quran which is the finale book from God. Have i read the bible? yes.

You naturally become a follower of a specific faith or Religeon by following your family's - as a kid.
When you grow older you contemplate, you search and you learn.. but you're still under influence of years of direction by your parents.. so big deviations are really not a choice, or an option or even practical.
Most will just follow the faith of their parents.. they could be more religeous or less into it.
As you mature you could strengthen your planted beliefs, struggle with them a bit, but very rarely defy them.
So choice between religeons is not really a privilidge or a freedom in most communities. People should try to understand how to be better people.. not try to figure out what's the better religeon to follow.

I don't think Jesus would like your prophet much. He stopped people from fighting for him and chose rather to sacrifice Himself. Muhammad took Mecca by force.....
