I disagree with you..Whats unpatriotic is not to question, anyone can follow a tyrant ...patriots stand against it.

I hate the Republican party because they support the military-industrial complex that provides the materiel for these wars and diverts precious capital and resources from the rest economy. We can't afford universal health and unemployment insurance, subsidized higher education and recovery for the country's crumbling infrastructure because of this wasteful and immoral subversion. This vast and overly redundant arsenal provided a handy incentive for Bush and his sycophants to engage in a war of choice that, in no way, enhanced our security, protected our allies or met a credible threat to our country.

- I hate the Republican party because they readily use the tactic of employing stomach churning jingoism that gives these immoral foreign misadventures their popular drive and moral justification. This perverts the true nature of patriotism that, otherwise would induce young American men and women to wear our nation's military uniform and take an oath to protect and defend it and our nation's Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic. Instead we wear it to maximize Halliburton's profit margin.

- I hate the Republican party because they're willing to go to no end to lie, distort fact, hide the truth, embezzle, kill, subvert the law, commit any underhanded act in order to hold on to power. These people do not play by the rules. Never have and never will.

I hate the Republican party because they hate the Republic. They're willing to turn this country into a plutocratic theocracy, or even an outright dictatorship, that employs every Orwellian trick in the book in order to maintain their hold on power.

- I hate the Republican party because they reject the egalitarian legacy of the United States. They're willing to engage in a campaign of social Darwinism, (Ironic, in that most of them reject Darwin) to keep the country embroiled in various racial, gender, class and religious struggles as a mechanism to divide the general population. For instance, they use loaded code words that relegate Americans of non-white, anglo-saxon heritage into the category of demi-American and objects of derision and fear. I take this fact personally.

Funny that you ask that...

I will start by saying that I am a Gulf War Vet - Both of them. I spent 11 years in the Marine Corps. I too get peeved at people who say things and make accusations, I too wonder why they don't just pack their **** and leave.

Then I remember why I, and many others like me have served. As an American, it is our right to say what we want, stay if we want, or leave if we want.

I sure as hell wasn't very "free" while I was on active duty, but that was my sacrifice, my choice.
As much as I hate to say, those "unpatriotic" people are Americans just as much as anyone else. I gave 11 years of my life, for them too, even if they don't agree with my views.

I will say that if things keep going the way they are, my wife and I have seriously considered leaving the US.

Part of me says this would be stupid, after all that time spent serving something to abandon it.
But another part of me says that if it gets so bad that you won't be able to stand it, why stay and *****? Go somewhere else.

Either way it is my/our choice as a FREE Americans to decide why and when we go, no one elses. Seems to me, that's what I was fighting for to begin with, isn't it?

I'm a gulf war veteran, and you sir, are an idiot. First off, one of the things all American soldiers fought for is free speech, so these people have every right to say what they feel. If you don't agree, that is your right as well.
Secondly, just because some people don't agree with the war, or war profiteers like Cheney does not make them un-American. One of our founding Fathers, Thomas Jefferson, said it is our duty as Americans to question government at all times to guard it from being corrupt.

If you knew the history of your country and if you were well informed about the gratitude of the world, for America, following the second world war, you would not dare to compare the America of then with the America of now! The Second World War was a most justifiable one, not only for those who suffered its consequences directly (I am one of them) but also for those who helped and suffered at all, like you for instance! So, for you expressing your myopic views in comparing the America of then with the America of now, tells me that the kind of views and thoughts you project are the real reason for America being hated by the rest of the world. The world which used to love, appreciate and admire the then greatest modern democracy in the known world.

As for the way America is viewed today by the rest of the world and, as a matter of fact, by most informed American citizens, we only have to thank the imbeciles running the America of now and those who support those idiots.

Dude you supporting detials really suck, if you look back on U.S history George Washington told us never to interfere with international politics, and ww2 was a much more better cause to go to war than the so called war in Iraq in which we were all misslead to yes to go to war, we should of just finished off the war in afghanastan or better yet took out saddam in the first gulf war while every country was on our side...

I have no quarrel with the idea of a just war, because we've been in several. We're in at least one right now, in Afghanistan. But I do have a problem with the way things have been handled with Iraq, from day one. And I like my country too much to leave it, I would rather stay and try to change it for the better.

I'm not an American Citizen, but I am a legal resident living in the US. Sure, we can all complain about the policies of the American government - but in reality, where would you rather be living? Why do you think people are risking their lives to enter the US? Could it be that this is one of the best countries to live in?
(of course, my home and native land, Canada, is the best, but we can give the US second place ! :)

That's what America's all about; voicing your opinion. But I feel if you want to live here, have a little respect. Sure you may have some disagreements about certain things but take pride in being an American and where you live. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

I have served my country faithfully for the last 18 years. I feel that people have a right to question their government but should support those of us who fight for their freedoms. There are people in here who have answered this question who say they hate a certain group of people (ie. republicans). Anyone who says a blanket statement like this is moronic. There are hatemongers on both sides of the political fence and both parties can be self serving and filled with misrepresentations. This isn't the point. The point is that in this country we can disagree with the government and protest and we can also stand up and fight for the rights of everyone. For the people who say that the war in Iraq is unjustified please tell me that 600,000 dead Kurdish men women and children are worth fighting for. The greatness of this country is that we not only protect our own interests but we also protect those who cannot protect themselves. I have seen first hand the atrocities committed by the Saddam regime, I have seen the dead children in mass graves...we fight for them...we fight for those who cannot defend themselves.
