As far as I can imagine, god is very good and not aristrocratic that he wants every thing to himself, then why does muslims take this issue to very high levels and say "people who pray to multi gods are not of true religion".

Because this is the first pillar of Islam. Declaring there is no God but Allah. You should worship him and him alone. So when people worship Jesus, Buddha, Krishna, or any of the hundreds of Hindu gods that is a sin. If you are worshiping and praying to a statue giving it thanks for what you have and asking it for help, then you are thanking and asking the wrong person. This is what God tells us " do not worship false gods or deities" so we don't. If your religion follows one of these false gods then no its not a true religion. God also says of this on judgment day just pray to your idol and see if they can save you from the hell fire. I'm guessing that Vishnu has no authority over who gets into heaven or not. The point being God is supreme,God is the one who provides everything in your life, God is the only one who decides if you get into heaven or not. I think ill be sticking with the one and only Allah, what others want to worship is there own business, but they cant say they never heard of Islam on judgment day can they? They cant use the i never knew excuse, everyone is free to research and follow the true path if you don't then its there responsibility.

Muslims do insist on praying to one God that is Allah because where there are 2 gods or more we will be confusing.More than one God is contrary to monotheism.Islam is monotheism. We muslims believe in Allah the only one God.Our believe is based on our iman or belief as prerequisite as a muslim. We believe that holy Qur'an is given by Allah the only one God through our prophet Muhammad pbuh.In the holy Qur'an,Allah sated that if someone believe in other god than Allah,we will have the unforgiven great sin. and will go to hell.So we insist on praying only to one God that is Allah Monotheism is the original religion since Adam and Eve,Abraham,Moses up to Muhammad pbuh. The other religion which believe in many gods and idols is not a true religion..We muslims are consistent to monotheism..

Islam, like Christianity and Judiasm is Monotheistic meaning that their religion has only one god. One of the common beliefs in monotheistic religions is that polytheistic or pantheonistic (multiple deitiy) religons are not real religions and in some cases even claim that other montheistic religions are not real either. This is born from the tradition in tose beliefs that their way is the ONLY way, something that has been handed down for centuries (in some cases millinea) as an absolute and unquestionable truth.

Monotheism is not championed by Islam alone. Judaism and Christianity also deify the one true God. See what it says in the bible. If combined that would be a staggering 54.22% ie more than half of the world's population.
I think we all can benefit from not having to use Islam as your convenient punching bag.

We insist on one God because there is only one God. God tells us that the most essential thing for a human being to have over anything else is to have a belief in One God. Through this belief comes salvation. Without it, one can not achieve salvation and is a constant state if sin. God is One and God is Infinite. There is no room for additional gods.

well its one of the 10 commandments. the first commandment says that one should not take any gods beside One God.
“And God spoke all these words, saying, I am the Lord your God, which have brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. YOU SHALL HAVE NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME” (Ex. 20:1-3).

One of the essential elements of Islam is belief in one god. The Qur'an goes on at great length that Allah will be displeased if one worships more than one god, which is Allah (literally, "the god").
