Yes, you can get ulcers at 18.

Stress, yes. Not just due to college exams, but in all areas of your life. Family stress, peer pressure, etc.

Also, there may be underlying causes. Poor health in general.

If you've got a problem, a checkup couldn't hurt.

You can have an ulcer. However if you are a healthy 18 year old, there is usually more than one factor that can contribute to getting the ulcer. I found a helpful site www.gastro.com that can tell you about the risk factors for getting an ulcer. I will paraphrase some of what the website says:

"While scientific evidence refutes the old belief that stress and diet cause ulcers, several lifestyle factors continue to be suspected of playing a role. These factors include cigarettes, foods and beverages containing caffeine, alcohol, and physical stress."

". . . an imbalance between digestive fluids (hydrochloric acid and pepsin) and the stomach's ability to defend itself against these powerful substances resulted in ulcers."

I hope this helps, I will cite the full link below so you can find more information!

Absolutely. Even children can and do get ulcers. It is normally due to excessive stress which results in an overproduction of stomach acids. If you think you have an ulcer, get to your doctor pronto!

Ulcers aren't usually caused by stress. They are caused by h pylori something or if you take a lot of aspirin, it can mess up the lining in your stomach.
