Lack of light.

They arent colored black. They are dark Due to the lack of light. Someone or something is blocking the light causing the shadow. Without light we have darkness.

Shadows are colored black because when light is blocked by an opaque object it shows off as black or the absence of color

The path from which light travels is blocked, therefore, there is no light being reflected back to your eye when you look down at your shadow. If light where all around you, the light in front of you would gain prominence as your eyes would receive its images using the light that's in front of you. And from that we go into what makes green green but I am not gonna get in on that but I'll give you a hint.....it's the aliens!~

Light is referred to as white light, that is comprised of all the different colors seen by the human eye (ie rainbow). Shadows lack light, therefore they appear black because of the absence of emitted light.
