I currently take 50 mg of Paxil daily and use Xanax as a backup, I am not a recreational drug user, but wonder if anyone has tried marijuana to ease the symptoms of panic disorder and what the results were?

No, but I'd be concerned that paranoia might raise your anxiety. I know paranoia doesn't *always* accompany pot smoking, but it can, and it would be something to be aware of.

I also suffer from anxiety and panic disorder and take xanax as back up along with my primary medication. Marijuana makes it worse for me. I'm almost guaranteed to have a panic attack if I smoke pot. I used to smoke it alot when I was younger. But since the panic disorder..I haven't been able to smoke with out feeling icky. So its no fun. But everyone is different. You could try it and keep your xanax handy in case you have an attack. But over all..xanax is cheaper than weed anyway. And know one can tell when I'm taking xanax. If I smoked a joint before work..I think it would be extremely noticeable.

Well I haven't because that is illegal. But I have a friend who has panic attacks and is on the same dose of Paxil and has used Maryjane for panic and she said she was able to cope and thinks that is might work for you also.

After watching a friend who tried pot freak out with paranoia I would want to be really careful about using it to deal with panic. I realize not everyone has that reaction but be aware that it could have the opposite effect.

The only thing marijuana ever did for me was put me to sleep. So I guess, it might help. But not if you are around a lot of people, it might enhance the anxiety/panic attack, so no.
