Having straight hair is Fun and Sexy -but- you don't use the right type of product, you can end up with a Hot Mess!
Use a hair gloss or a hair lotion before applying any type of heat to your hair. *This will help prevent your hair from any type of breakage or damage, it will also help the look to your hair. Your hair will look shinier, much more healthier, and your hair will stay straight-end for a longer period of time.*
Depending on the type of hair that you have I suggest you use a Ceramic (Gold) straightener if you have more of a wavy type hair.
For a "almost straight or straight" hair, use a Titanium (Silver) straightener.
And if you are look for a GREAT flat iron that will do the job, go after a Curlmaster, Jilbere de Paris, or a Gold 'N Hot.
Now for all your Sections... First, take your finger, comb, pen, or anything with a point and divide evenly down the middle. Next, tie in a pony tail the side that you will NOT be working with first. Then, take a clip and clip up all of the hair on the other side that you will not be working with.
-For a nicer & straighter hair, portion your hair less so the iron can grab more hair.
Now, move the clip gradually up until that side is complete.
Finally, while one side is already done, untie the other side and use the clip as you did before.
Hopefully my information will be useful to you.
Good Luck!

the best way is to get a shampoo and conditioner that smooths your hair, try Sunsilk (the purple option), this will help with the straightening process, apply a straightening balm (you can also find this in the Sunsilk range), than when you hair about 80% naturally dry use a clip to put it up leaving a section about (5cm long) at the nap of your neck, using a round natural bristle brush and you hair drier facing down (to smooth the hair cuticle) start drying you hair section by section. when you whole head is done give you hair a blast of cool air from you drier and off you go.... Though out the day if you hair gets puffy apply a little bit of straightening balm, make sure to warm it up in the palm of you hands before you apply to the lengths of you hair. good luck.
p.s: if you own a hair straightener run that over after you blow dry for poker straight hair.

In a situation like this a ceramic belveling iron can be your best friend. Now the key to this method is to washa nd condion your hair. Blow dry it and bevel the hair in small sections with the bevel iron it will take 30min to an hour depending on your hair and if you have help with the back. but in the end you will I promise you love the results. The irons are pricey but worh every cent you will have friends borrowing it.

I've seen hairdressers do amazing things with just blowdryers and brushes, but I really have no idea how they do that. I recommend getting a good straightening iron. My friend has a Corioliss straightener and it's amazing. (It curls, too! But it's about $100 here in California...)
