Permanent sterilization is just that, permanent. You are very very young and if you have doubts in your heart about this procedure do not have it done. There are other less permanent methods of birth control available that are very reliable.

there is a procedure a friend of mine had because she was too young to get her tubes tied, she was 19 and they wouldn't do it even though she only wanted the 1 child she had. They can do this procedure, in office I think, where they clamp the tubes. It is not permanent as the clips can be removed anytime in the future. It is more reliable than birth control pills. Some of us no matter how hard we try once in a while a pill can be forgotten, that is all it takes to get pregnant, heck they aren't even 100%. I would suggest getting your hubby in with you at a dr visit and everyone can express their concerns, get the answers they need and hear about the many options. Getting your tubes tied at 20 is a very big decision, but it is not your only option.
Good luck.

There are different methods to doing this. You can actually get your tubes clipped so that the sperm does not make it all the way up your Fallopian tube. If you decide to have kids later on in life you can just get them removed. I knew someone who had this done an she was 21 with two kids. Doctors usually suggest that you have a boy and girl before doing this seeing as it could hinder your chances of getting pregnant again. You can always do research online on it, than consult your doctor. Gynecologist will know more on the subject.

You are entitled to make ur own decisions but i was with my 2 daughters dad for 6 years and i wanted mine tied after my baby i wasn't 21 just yet so i couldn't do it i got an IUD instead it last ten years. We broke up after 6 years and i am now married to a wonderful man with no kids and am very happy that i can still produce. I'm not doubting your relationship but you are very young and sometimes what we think is best for us really isn't and when your baby's are all grown up who know what you will want. Just before you make such a drastic change listen to what your own heart tells you not anyone elses. You know you better than anyone else. If you make a choice for you don't be afraid to stick to you'll be happy you did in the long run. And if not at least you only have to answer to yourself.

Honstly if you have mixed feeling I would NOT do it. Wait until you know for sure what you want to do. I am 19 and I have a 2 year old. So I know where you are coming from. I had her when I was 16. Do the BC until you know for sure what you want to do. Let me put it this way. If something was to happen, and you tied you rtubes with mixed feelings and later wanted another child it wouldnt be possible.. just think it through VERY well!!!

Jessica,
I am 29 and I had my tubes tied when I was 23. I had just had my second child and his dad did not want to have any more. I had mixed feelings about it and I did it anyway. It's what he wanted and we where going to get married. To make a long story short, I left him after five years and am with my husband now and I want one more child. Now I have to get my tubes untied and take the chance of never conceiving. Don't do it if you are not sure. I beg you. It has to be in your heart to do so, not his!!! You never know what is in front of you five yrs from now.

Good luck kid.
I hope you couple really love each other and stay together for life.
I am 50 now, married when I was 33, wife was 28. We got our only child when she was 38. Your kids will play with each other, something our only child misses and we have to fill in, which we do and try to have as much fun as we can.
I think 3 is a good number.
But I would not tie the tubes.
Just be the owner of your body and control it, and your husband should do the same on his side.
There is no need for permanent surgeries.
Children is nice, love is good, but it can cost, not just money but a lot of work and time.
Close the factory and have fun.

Just use birth control. 3 kids at 20 seems like quite a bit to deal with, but you could change your mind when you're older if you get your tubes tied now.

Yep, I'm with Dixiegirl on this one....Birth control is what you need girlfriend....by the way if your husband insists that you still have your tubes tied tell him no and for him to have a vasectomy. You're too young to have your tubes tied...you may want to have kids later on and you'll regret it.
Good luck:-)

a mans perspective: while three children by the age of twenty isn't unheard of, it does seem a might busy. That said, shouldn't you consider that you are only twenty. Suppose something happened to your husband or god forbid your children? Marriages don't always last until death do you part. And hey! Whats wrong with him getting fixed? I would consider long and hard and consult your doctor on this matter before doing anything. Until then, consider conventional birth control methods.

I am 22 and i have a 15 month old and a 5 week old...my hubby and i considered this but we still haven't made a for sure desicion....we want more kids eventually possibly? i would just wait until you are completly ok with this....use protection in the mean time and just be very careful(we weren't so careful) but we plan to be from here on out.....Just be sure it's what you want before you do it.....if you ever change your mind it's very expensive to reverse and it's not 100% that you can ever get pregnant again.
