Who said we were content? That's the point - we're not content - we're on the edge of our seats!

If we were content in knowing that we'd be going to heaven, we wouldn't care about our actions on earth. Or some would care, but not care to perfect it and strive to try and make sure that they will be admitted to Paradise.

This life is a test - not knowing whether or not we're going to heaven is supposed to keep us with the mindset of continous spiritual improvment - and make us the best we can be as human beings!

Because life and what happens after is unexpected. I do not see you foretelling your future, no one can. Even if they say they are a seer or do some weird six-sense thing. Heaven and Hell are pending and people shouldn't completely dismiss it as a possiblity. I mean Heaven sounds a lot nicer than being 6 feet under. People might have created the concept but why live in confusion and separation when something like religion or the thought of Heaven can make you joyous? If I have to die being naive and believing in something that brought a clarity to my mind even though it was false is a lot better in my opinion than never feeling in your heart at all.

Because people don't want to believe that they will face judgment for all the things they have done in their life. They don't realize that Jesus bridged the gap of sin and a all perfect God for us. God planted the seed of eternity in our hearts. It is a fact that most people believe in some variation of an afterlife. If there is no heaven, why would anyone bother being good? Why would you practice any moral values at all? People just need help and encouragement to put all the pieces together.

You know, I don't know! I am one of those people. I want to believe there is a heaven and that my Dad is up there and I will get to see him again some day, but I have a hard time. My family members told me I have to go to church and just believe. They say faith comes by hearing the word of God. I have a hard time with this because, and I seriously mean no disrespect, I feel as if it is brain washing. I know I will have to deal with it because we are all going to die, but I guess my answer would be that it isn't on my list of things to do that are pressing right now.

Generally, those who believe in heaven "know" they are going there, and those who don't believe in heaven have no doubts that heaven doesn't exist. So it's not like they're not sure about where they are going. They "know" just as well as you do.

There's this really great book that I had to read for my medieval history class called "Life of St Louis" by Jean de Joinville (sp?). In it, the author and some other men encounter a woman carrying a bowl of hot coals in one hand and a flask of water in the other.

The men ask where she's going, and she tells them that she's taking the flask of water to quench the fires of hell, so that people don't refrain from evil for fear of going to hell, and with the bowl of coals she's going to burn up paradise, so that people won't just do good for the sake of getting into heaven.

Do you see what I'm getting at here?

I don't have to simply be content with anything......

I know for a fact that i'm going to heaven....reason being that when I accepted Christ as my Personal Saviour, the Holy Spirit filled me with a peace so that I don't have reason for doubt.....

Because some people understand that we don't always see things clearly, but God does.

We may think we're model Christians, but God may have other ideas.

God is the judge.

Let's trust in him ... and in his judgment ... and not get too carried away with ourselves.

Presumption is a sin.

Not all of us want to go to Heaven. You can't assume that we all do.

According to the Christian faith, my entire family is either in, or on their way to, Hell because none of them accepted Christ. How could I possibly enjoy Heaven alone?

They don't know for sure that they are going anywhere after death...but the BELIEVE they are. Beliefs are generally impervious to logic, evidence, or the lack thereof.
