To cristians the Sacrament of Marriage is the unision of man and woman into one. In the Old Testament God created a man and a woman and not 2 man or 2 woman. What God has intended cannot be changed by human beings but each of us has our own free will. The Cristian Church is not going to take responsibly of anybody's sin or defiance to God.

Before you ask about gay marriages, take it upon yourself and read the bible, there are tons of scriptures forbidding that lifestyle. To make it easier get a hold of a "Naves topical bible" look under homosexuality or sexual immorality, it will list all the scriptures containing that topic.
Now you can research and come up with your own conclusion.
Organized religion for the most part understands that this lifestyle compromises their obligation to the people, further study will reveal that God's blessing will cease upon that congregation and instead will be cursed.
that's why there's a fierce fight going on about gay marriages in the church.
Basically people want to justify their lifestyle, so they are the ones who make the excuses that the bible contradicts itself, its in the old testament, other religions are doing it, etc etc, A person desiring to live in immorality has every right to do so, Its their free will.
Unless you do the study yourself, you are always going to get "someone else's view."
If you google Naves topical bible, there's a free website just punch in the topic and all the scriptures will be made available.
Best of luck.

You know I have a friend who is gay and he visited a catholic church, St.Francis of Assi and he noticed the same mentality. I think being that man kind was known in the older times to only be created by male, and female. Which has been instilled in the doctrine for over generations. And that is why one of the reasons I am not catholic. Although I am gay and am a christian and I have experienced acceptance towards the gay community with christians. At times in the messages as southern baptists preach they strongly prohibit gay men or woman to be together. Which is basically the southern mentality in general outside, and inside religion. Just because all sorts of demonations proclaim to be apart of the christian faith does not mean they are christian.

The Catholic Church believes that God himself is the author of marriage and has created it for one man and one women.
The Church further teaches that being homosexual is not a sin but that all single people (heterosexual and homosexual) are called to celibacy.
What civil governments decide to do is up to the citizens and constitution of the country.
However Jesus said, "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you." (Matt. 28:18-20)
The Catholic Church has been telling the world governments what it believes is right and wrong since the ancient Romans stopped persecuting it and long before anyone heard of the freedom of speech.
The Catholic Church protested the blood sports in the Roman Colosseum and they were stopped.
I don't think the Church is going to (or should) stop telling world governments what is right or wrong now.
With love in Christ.

its not just catholic its all christans because marriage a coveanent between a man and a woman. but it also represents in the bible a covenant between JESUS and the bride ( the cristans or Crist belivers) so for two men or two woman to get married is not what GOD intended marriage to be about. In the beganing of the Bible God says a man and woman shall come together and become one flesh. just like we Jesus and his bride come together. If you have Jesusas your Lord then he lives in you and you become one flesh. So this is why the church gets upset marrige is HOLY! live together just dont mess with Holy marriage made by GOD

Because one cannot redefine the Scriptural term MARRIAGE based on a sin. Even if some unscriptural ministers are marrying them, it does NOT make it a sanctified true marriage in God's eyes; plus these ministers will be held accountable before God.

I am Assemblies of God. and we are adamantly against it also. In fact any true Christian would be, because it goes against the WORD OF GOD.
Homosexuality is a sin, and if we legalize gay marriage then we are giving them license to sin.

It has to do with this thing called the bible and what God says about the "act" of homosexuality. If you allow the marriage aren't you saying it's ok to "act" on those feelings?
