love means doesn't mean anything anymore... we love Starbucks, we love DKNY, we love cheese pizza, we love CSI, we love the smell of rain, we love Jessica Simpson... what does love mean... do you love your mother the same as you love a snickers bar?
Love at first sight is confused with lust. How can a person honestly love someone they know nothing about. We can love the thought of being in love with that attractive person, but to know what makes them truly beautiful inside is impossible.
A popular statement now is "I love you, platonic love, not the real kind"
The real meaning of love seems to have gotten lost... The self sacrifice, action word type of love is rare, almost extinct.

It most likely implies that the person quoting it thinks that people were more romantic 10 or 20 years ago .

It emphasizes the need to be true to yourself regarding ones relations with each other. This modern world seems to say believe in one thing and say / do something else-hypocrisy and show off seems to be way of life.
Bring back that honest, simple and uncomplicated way of life.

Sounds like a "catch-phrase" to me. Like, "Coke, the real thing," or "Just do it," etc.
