I've had a couple of radiators repaired and recored by Fran at Able Radiator in Milwaukie, Oregon -- she's terriffic! Does great work, and always has cool cars around the shop and in pictures on the walls. She does most of the custom work for local racers in all kinds of classes and categories -- from drag to circle-track to road race and rally cars. She keeps pictures of her customers' cars on the wall of the shop.
I would not hesitate to have her do more radiator work, if (or when) it becomes necessary on any of my water-cooled cars. And if she did other work that I needed to have done, I'd call her up.
So I'd have to put that down as a "yes." Although in general I don't go to mechanics -- I take parts to specialist shops for rebuilding or machine work, but I usually take them off and put them back on the car myself. Yes, even the new blue car in the avatar -- I've got black smudges on my right hand now from working on it last Sunday (put back the stock intercooler to stay within the STX rules, added a short-ram, replaced plugs... what a miserable job THAT was).

I do!
In the workshop I take my car for service there are two female mechanics -mother and daughter- and I always ask for them to work on my car.
It's been two years now and I am totally satisfied. The job quality is perfect and furthermore, my car is always spotless when I take it back. What makes you wonder?

Given that mechanics now need some sort of certification to make sense of all the techno-wazoos underneath the hood, yeah. I mean, she wouldn't be there if she didn't know jack.

Yes. If there's a lady Pilot so does a lady mechanic and they're very attention to detail.
