this already happened a few months ago, but im wondering what kind of advice yall would give me anyway.

i found a homecoming date for the dance and she was going to go with me, until my parents said no because she is black.
she is very cool person who i met at the dance the week before homecoming, and i was glad to finally have the chance to do something interesting on the weekends.

i argued with them over the next two days about it, finally gave up and obeyed.

since then i really havent talked to her because i decided afterward to just sorta let it fade away because it seemed pointless

now its faded and kinda too late anyway

looking back i wish i had disobeyed and picked her up and gone and had a good time anyway.

what would you have done?

I would have taken her. Be a rebel man. Besides, you said she was a nice person right? That is all that really matters.

well unfortunately when u r a certain age u have to obey your parents. mI do feel bad for you because i sure she is s great person. Telling our parents how u fell may be pointless because they r older and set in their ways. The only thing that u can do is that when u get older and on your own YOU get to pick your friends. Yes sure they will say something but u can then have more control as an older adult to make your own decisions. Good luck

i would have tried my hardest to convince my parents to give this person a chance and wouldnt take no for an answer. at the end of the day, it's up to you, not your parents, to decide this sorta thing and u shouldnt let them get the better of you. u cant always obey everything your parents tell you. u hav to do things for yourself. next time you know that u dont always hav 2 listen to what your parents say, unless it's something really bad that can kill u.

right now your parents have the power to control your finances and so own you really couldn't have done anything at that point. I would say that your parents did something very shameful and obviously you disagreed. When your out of the house and have a car and your own money. You can let them have it. Otherwise move on.you dont want to create more problems then you need in hs.

Gee it is a hard situation. I have dated outside of my race, luckily for me, my parents were understanding. I probably would have done it anyway.
But, the truth be told....your parents have a right to feel the way they feel. I hate to sound that way. In a more serious situation, there are cultural issues that may be hard to over come. But just to hang out and casually date as a friend shouldn't be that big of a deal. Just my opinion.

Even if I didn't agree I would have obeyed my parents I would have had no choice. If I had disobeyed my parents it would have caused more trouble. Sometimes even if we don't agree with our parents especially if we still live at home it is better to obey and keep the peace then to argue and make more trouble for ourselves. Sorry if this is not the answer you were looking for just giving my honest opinion.

I would have gone. In this day and age to have color be the reason for not doing ANYTHING is absolutely unbelievable! To have your parents try to make it part of parental control and a lesson to you, I think is really sad, not only for you, the girl, but for them. Surely their closed minds have caused them, as well as you, a great deal of discomfort. All I can say is WHAT A SHAME!

Noone ever tells us how old they are which makes a correct answer impossible .But obviously your parents are racist this is a bad thing in the modern world .My parents would have let me choose and I would have taken her regardless of what others think you dont judge a person by the color of their skin but by their heart .

I would have gone because it's my life. I should be able to date whoever I want to date (I'm 18). I am the one dating the person, not my parents.

Hell, it wasn't even like dating. It was just a dance.
