Money is the root of all evil. I believe it actually reads "the love of money is the root of evil". Not sure exactly.

Yes there is a jack leg preacher who keeps spouting, "If the brain offend the pluck it out and cast it from the says the Lord. It is better to enter the Kingdom of heaven a complete idiot without a brain than to be cast into hell fire where the worm never dies and the fire is not quenched." Don't you just love it? "God helps those who helps themselves." Is not a quote from the Bible. It is like, "an apple a day keep the doctor away." Which is not a quote from the Bible either. "How sharper than a serpents tooth it is to have a thankless child," I believe is from Shakespeare. Kisses Betty.

Well, it's not actually a quote, but a common belief that is often spoken, and is purported to be Bible-based by those who say it:
Pastors shouldn't be paid for their work. <
My mother espouses this, though I've never seen her visit bed-ridden people or shut-ins, or teach or preach anything.

Spare the rod and spoil the child
An ungrateful child is sharper than a serpent's tooth.
The first is from a poem by Samuel Butler. The second is Shakespeare's Kimg Lear.

The whole war between the angels and Lucifer being cast out isn't in the Bible. I think it actually came from Paradise Lost. There's one vague reference to 'the morning star' in the Bible, but that's it.

Try finding anything about "3" wise men, anything Jesus said about homosexuality, the story of Jesus' birth in the Gospel of Mark or John, the serpent as Satan in Genesis. Sorry, can't think of specific quotes. :)

"Be in the world but not of it." There are several references that carry that idea but the quote isn't there.

Another famous one is "believe and do not investigate".
About the one you wrote, I think people invented it to have an excuse for not helping their fellows.
