Catgut Suture has two types namely Catgut Plain Sutures and Catgut Chromic Sutures. The Plain Sutures and Chromic Sutures almost have the similar process of manufacturing. Catgut is made from the longitudinally slitting the intestinal submucosa of sheep and goat followed by a process of twisting and polishing giving the sutures a virtually monofilament finish.
