It seems to hurt her when I trim it, which I have to do once a week or it becomes ingrown. I'm anti-declawing usually, but hate to see her in pain.

She has the five toes on her front paws kind of in a hand pattern with the sixth in between the thumb and index finger.

Sure...you can have the toe or the claw removed if its bothering the cat. The feet look more normal when the toe is removed, but some people like the novelty of the extra toed kitty. The surgery would be about the same degree of difficulty and cost either way.

I have a polydactl cat as well. He has 7 toes on each of his front paws, with a total of 26 all together. I would never declaw him, but his extra claws all stick out and don't become ingrown. Take kitty to the vet, they can declaw just the one claw on each foot. Your kitty should be okay after that.

I am also against declawing for selfish reasons. But if the claw gets ingrown, then it would probably be best for your cat to declaw it.

That's certainly a question for your vet. If it is hurting her it probably should be done and wouldn't be as awful as the operation to remove ten claws would be.

Yes you can get the one taken off. It will more than likely be more comfortable for her in the long run.
