For the past few months, I've been oddly concerned about germs. I won't eat anything with my hands until I've washed them really, really well. Then if I go in a different room and touch anything, I have to wash them again before I can continue eating. When I take a dish or something out of the cupboard I have to rinse it off under the water before I can eat off of it. I'm also overly concerned about food poisoning, so I'm constantly checking expiration dates and worrying about food being cooked enough. I refuse to eat leftovers after one day because I'm afraid they're not safe. Is this really abnormal, like obsessive-compulsive sounding? Because that's what I'm starting to think....

Yeah, it sounds like you have OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) I recongise your symtoms, because I was a sufferer too, you'd actually be surprised at how comman the disorder is...
Please consult your doctor, they can advise you on what to do. You need to get help as soon as you can though, otherwise the disorder will end up controlling you, before you can control it.
Goodluck, hope you get better soon! :)

This is no abnormality or any disorder as you are worried. As a matter of fact this "being clean" should have been a habit from the beginning. As the proverb goes "better late than never". You have begun being clean and just keep going. It is highly recommended to be clean - washing hands, utensils, vegetables and fruits and also wash the cutting board and knife every time. Checking the expiry date is also a very good habit for both adults and baby foods. So stop worrying and be clean. There is nothing abnormal in your behavior. Happy living. Cheers : )

Sounds like mild OCD (Obsessive Compulsive)

You should visit your doctor and express your concerns, there are many ways to manage the condition and make it more manageable. They may pass you on to a psychologist, but you should certainly not be ashamed! Just get the assistance you need and deserve as the longer you leave it, the more structured and elaborate the compulstions will become.
