This depends on how you define "I want to take pics quickly" ...

IF you are looking for fast image taking and storage -- then you need to look at the media (Digital Chip that stores the images on it) -- and its processing speed -- for example -- a Compact Flash Chip with an 80x processing speed is much, much slower on recording images than one that has a 133x speed marked on it. This is especially important for those of us who have the SLR type of Digital Cameras, and use them while they are doing anything and everything -- and shoot in the .raw mode (which takes up LOTS of space and really slows down the image processors and the camera does and can have a lag time between your last image and the next by (at times) several minutes while it catches up writing the information to the digital chip.

Now if "I would like to take pics quickly" means, cheap, low quality, fast and I'm not concerned about anything other than point and shoot -- then look at the NON-SLR digital Cameras -- all of them are quick, easy shots, and have auto focus, auto exposure, and all around are very easy to use.

As a professional photographer working with all kinds of digital cameras there are many thinks to consider. The factors that are to be considered are the mega pixels of the camera, fps or frames per second, type of image (raw or Jpeg), storage media used and what are you planing on using the camera for?
If you are looking to take the most pictures per second the canon 1d Mark IIn ($3600.00 plus lenses) will do the job at 8 per second, but that is probably not what you are looking for. Narrow your search to a couple of cameras that you think fall in the range of what you are looking for like size, cost and other factors and then find some review on the Internet that go into detail about the models and make sure that the reviews are somewhat current as what was hot two years ago is a lame duck buy today's standard.
Make sure you also try to find what the wake up time - or time for first shoot is, because if it is to slow the moment may have pasted from trigger to shutter opening.
I use a Canon 30D 8mega pixel 5fps for sports and action and Canon a 5D 12 mega pixels 3fps for landscape and glamor and a compact canon G7 10 mega pixels 1.5 fps for covert work or when caring 20 pounds of gear is no good.

Look for tests and specifications on camera performance.

Pro reviewers measure time to startup, time between pics, time impact of flash, shutter lag, etc.

Look at www.dpreview.com and www.steves-digicams.com.

Also look at camera specs.

You can also ask the staff at a GOOD camera store for advice on faster cameras.

As usual, the fastest cameras are more expensive. But most new digicams in the $250 to $500 range are fast enough for most people.

If you need really fast performance, a digital SLR (d-SLR) is best. These cost $700 and up for a basic starter kit, then more for additional separate lenses later.

The number of pixels makes essentially no difference in the speed of the camera.

Good Luck
