I think it is a wonderful portrayal of life before birth. That he was called a babe, not a fetus. That the word declares a feeling and an action and emotion in the unborn. Wish we did today. Be blessed in the Lord!

I think he was baptized at that moment, according to the scripture:
Luk 1:11 And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord, standing on the right side of the altar of incense.
Luk 1:12 And Zachary seeing him, was troubled: and fear fell upon him.
Luk 1:13 But the angel said to him: Fear not, Zachary, for thy prayer is heard: and thy wife Elizabeth shall bear thee a son. And thou shalt call his name John.
Luk 1:14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness: and many shall rejoice in his nativity.
Luk 1:15 For he shall be great before the Lord and shall drink no wine nor strong drink:
==============
and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.
==============
Luk 1:16 And he shall convert many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God.
Luk 1:17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias: that he may turn the hearts of the fathers unto the children and the incredulous to the wisdom of the just, to prepare unto the Lord a perfect people.

The bably leaping in the womb was because of what was said. Jesus was conceived by the word of God to Mary. I think it is a sign that even babys know that there is a God.

I, as a Catholic, hold these verses dear, for they show the importances of Jesus as well as the importance of Mary in the roll of the Mother of our Lord. To make less of Mary's importance would also be making less of Jesus. She was the vessel that carried our Lord and for this she is to be called blessed by all generations!!! :)
God bless,
Stanbo

I leapt for joy the first time I felt the lords presence, but I wasn't in my mothers womb.
I've leaped for joy since when I felt his presence also.
