I am supposed to be having good camera, but its results are not good. Pictures are not sharp and focused on computer screen. My cam has max. resolution as 3264x 2448 (L) and lowest 640x 480 (S). And 3 quality options ;Superfine, Fine, Normal. I keep my cam in Automatic mode with AF mode as Single. Is there any other important setting I have to make for normal pics.

Some ideas:

. Make sure Autofocus mode is not set to "Continuous". This mode always keeps trying to set focus; it is only good for following moving objects. Normal photos should use "Monitor" mode.

. Check your technique to be sure that you are pushing the shutter gently, so as to not make the camera jump when taking the pic. In fact, use the technique of pushing the button 1/2 way down and letting the camera set focus and exposure before pushing the button all the way down. This slows you down and reduces camera jump.

. Make sure the focus point is in the center of the frame (if you have a movable focus point).

. Get someone else to use your camera, and see if the focus improves.

. If nothing helps, go to the camera store or service center and ask them to check for defective autofocus.

Good Luck

You have a very good camera. There should be no problem with the sharpness of your pic's. The pro 1 use a "L" quality lens, canons professional top of the line. What are you taking pictures of? Is there a lot of light? How do the pictures look on the back of the camera and printed?
The settings you describe should be ok for most normal pictures, unless you are trying to accomplish specific tasks, like sports or portraiture (use the dial setting for those modes) or the best thing is to get more familiar with the camera and the basics of photography and venture into the "T" or "A" or "M" mode.
Unless you are running out of memory I would keep the camera on the maximum Jpg setting to get the most out of the picture. You also need to look at what resolution you are looking at the picture on your computer screen. Let's say you are having a 1024x768 and are looking at 3264x2448 picture at a 100%, you are actually zoomed into the detail of the picture and need to scale back to 33% to see the full picture.
Lastly if you have all of the right settings, like full auto, AF on high res and you still get bed results you may have a bad AF and need to have it fixed by canon :(
To check this you take several different pictures in different setting like good daylight landscape, a zoomed in close up and so on as well as taking a picture of a rolled out tape measure to see where the camera focusd.
I have a canon 30D, 5D and G7 and have had problems with the AF choosing to focuse on the wrong thing but that is effected by where your subject is in the frame vs the focus points. Good luck
