When your children live under your roof when do you stop watching them sleep checking on them at night before you yourself go to sleep? Or does it continue until they move out or go to college? Just wondering if its jsut me that does this

I managed to cut myself down to checking once at night-just before I go to bed. I think maybe when they're around 10 I might stop checking, but I can't be sure. I'm almost superstitious about it now. Like, the ONE time I don't is when something would happen.

It lessened as she got older but I would still peek in on her sleeping right up until we packed her off to college and I did it any time she was at home after that. heck if she should spend the night here now, I would not open the door but I would stop by it and if the light was on I would knock and ask if she were OK. Once a mom, always a mom.

I'm a single Dad and my daughter is 13, so when she shuts her door for the night it's shut unless she opens it.

I do have screws in her window to where it will only open 4 inches and I check on these daily... lol.

I do miss checking on her tho, I remember when she was younger how peaceful it was watching her sleep.

I stopped checking on my children before I went to bed when they were about 5 or 6. I was blessed with two great sons who never tried to sneak out at night or anything like that So as they grew older I stopped checking because I knew they were where they were supposed to be.

I don't check once she's out for the night. I used a monitor til she was about 5-6 months old, then I realized I could hear her crying if she needed me without speaker by my head. Now she's nearly three, rarely wakes at night, and I can hear her or she can come into my room if she needs me. I don't check because I'd rather not wake her unnecessarily.

I have a 9 month old with numerous health problems, so I check on her ALL the time. Her crib is a foot away from me and I make it a point to set the clock in the middle of the night just to check on her.

I even check on hubby too. (I know that sounds strange) Sometimes he has bouts of sleep apnea, so just for piece of mind, I make sure he's ok too.

So as for who checks on me? God does.

Mine are only 4 & 2 but between my hubby & I we check on them at least 5-6 times per night. I can't imagine not feeling the need to check on them any longer

This is a natural instinct that comes with being a mom.

I have 2 small children and I check on them often throughout the night.

It gives me peace of mind. I am sure that I will continue to do this al they grow (my mom did this too).

And when they do move out I am very sure that we will be communicating often!

Hope this helps.

God Bless....

I don't think you ever stop checking on them.. My baby may only be three but I check on her all the time, and my parents use to come into my room at night to check up on me. Right up until I left home..
It's not just you, it's a mum thing.
Enjoy it 'cause you'll miss it once it's gone..

Its a continued thing.....

I can't rest peacefully unless I know that they are tucked in asleep; as they get older it becomes can't sleep until they get home safe an sound and you know where they are.
Even sleep overs I wait for the little call of Mom I love you.

Peace for me I guess.....what ever little amount a Mom is allowed....lol

Our hearts will forever care and be there for our children.
Sometimes/most of the time wanting to protect...even at a distance.

How blessed our we...:O)

Best wishes
