Many pet stores carry dog food for finicky eaters. Those foods tend to be more fattening because,
1. the dog will need more fat because he eats less
2. fatty food is more attractive
Unless these foods are too fragrent or strong for your particular pooch, I advise asking your vet if they would be good with your dogs condition. After the injury heals, the dog will probably eat more anyway, so don't worry too much.

Feed him table scraps, there is no better way to fatten up a dog than giving him people food.

Try not to give him milk because he will have diearehea. With milk it will coat the stomach and prevent nutrients from entering his body. Stick with wet food and dry food. Snacks that are high in protien are good too. Also you can give him SOME eggs, too much will give him an upset stomach and then he wont eat at all. Try using little oil as well. Other than that i really dont know anything else. Good luck! (sorry bout my english as well.)

Mix an egg and some meat baby food in with the cereal.Nutri-cal is good as well, and puppy milk replacer would be really good to mix with the cereal.Have you tried mixing canned puppy food with water to thin it?All of the above will help to put some weight on him.You should feed him three times a day.

Maybe try a replacement formula. Esbilac is a great product and as well as being packed full of all the nutrients, it is very similar to mother's milk (easily digested, contains antibodies, etc).
It is prepared the same as baby formula and might just do the trick. I have had great success with this particular product.

Listen to the vet who went to school for 8 years to treat animals instead of whatever you might come across on Yahoo Answers.
The Vet knows how much you love your puppy, and he wants the best for the dog on your behalf. Dont compromise the health of your dog getting medical advice online from any idiot with an internet conection.
That dog will be your best freind, and he depends on you for his care. Listen to the vet and be patient:

Feed him table scrapes and limit exercise, not too much though it can make him unhealthy. Also feed him a dog food with high crude fat rather than high crude protein.

Feed him Science Diet Puppy Food. Be sure to get puppy food. I dont recommend giving him people food. Science Diet is one of the best dog foods you can buy and it will get your puppy up to health very quickly. Good Luck.
