Wouldn't that make god bad for sinking 1500 innocent people because one guy said "not even god could sink the titanic"? Wouldn't it just make more sense that it was human error?

(and for anyone that knows well this topic. is it true that someone indeed even said that or is it just another Christian myth?)

Of course there's no evidence that God sunk the Titanic, whatever the reason.

The story has certainly fascinated people for a long time though, so why not use it to create a sermon that won't put people to sleep?

Someone may well have said that, but I doubt that sinking the Titanic would have been indicative of God's wrath. I believe that God's wrath will mainly be on judgement day.

As for the Titanic, they weren't really innocent people. No one is innocent. Everyone on earth is a sinner - everyone from Timothy McVeigh to Mother Theresa. Nevertheless, I don't think that the Titanic sinking was 'divine intervention.' It was human error - they were going too fast given the conditions (foggy, nighttime, possible icebergs), and were unable to stop in time.

I have never heard that before....

but it might make sense to some overzealous religious folks. The Titanic was indeed touted to be unsinkable, larger than life and a triumph over the sea.

I don't know that it was blasphemy but it was indeed an embarrassment and a tragedy.

that's all based on the fact that before the titanic sailed it was reported that someone said that "god himself could not sink this ship" and after the ship sank it raised a lot of controversy.

It was said newspapers recorded it. It was in the speach that they christened the boat with, and the reflect of the letters and numbers on the water said "nopope"

I supose He would have, cause you got to acknowledge Him.

God probably used it, but do you know what happened when they didn't say that about the biggest ship that sails up and down the east coast of North America down to South America

I think its because they captain was so proud of the ship that he said, "not even God Himself can sink this ship." Then what do you know, the ship sinks. God's not bad for doing this because He created life, so He has the right to take it away.

I've never heard that....I think it's ironic that the ship sinked. I doubt it was simply because someone said "God could not sink this ship"....

first of all i have to honestly say i have not heard one chistian say that in all my life.

secondly , it is not that God deliberately causes a diaster like this...what happens is he takes his blessing and protection away...thus leaving mankind on their own.

why??? you an d i will probably never know on this side...

although i do remember in the movie when it was said "God himself could not sink this ship". don't know how accurate that is to history...but
