It's up to what kind of surgery you had. If this injury/surgery inhibits you from performing your MOS or successfully completing an APFT then you might be medically boarded for a medical chapter or reclassification. It's really up to you, your commander and doctor. The doctor can request a medical board.
I had both knee caps removed the first year I was in service. IThe medical board gave me six months of recoup. It took alot of guts for me to start to walk again and pass an APFT. I worked on nothing but building my legs back up and pass the test. I did not try for a modified APFT. I finished 20 years of military service.
Oh! by the way (wings) ABN and Airassault and Master Repeller.

the militia is the most suitable note no longer the civilians. you'll favor to bypass to a med board that may very last as lengthy as a 12 months and infrequently even better. you'd be LIMDU if the militia docs see the choose. you may want to easily get stuck with shore responsibility or table artwork relying on the dept of service. the militia has 1000's of workers with undesirable knees serving on energetic responsibility so do not get enthusiastic about getting out quickly. they're going to do what's healthier for the militia no longer what's ideal for you. wish this permits. Been there and finished that.

It depends on the type of knee surgery. I had a back operation and I was discharged. If the military thinks your knee will hamper your performance, you should be prepared to return to civilian life.

With all the military cutbacks going on now, it's a good posiblity. It all depends if you're fit for duty and world-wide deployable after the surgery and rehab. Lately, (in the Air Force) anyone who has not been fit for duty was given a disability percentage and booted out! Their mentality, Sometimes it's better to cut your loses and pay up than carry around a gimp soldier.

You might, if you got injured while on the job, then, they'll pay you disability.
A friend of mine developed ACNE while in the military! she proved she did not have it before entering the military, she gets about a 100 bucks a month from the military because of it!
