You should definitely start now!
My parents started reading things to me when I was very young, that were above my level. When I didn't understand something, they would explain it. This "extra" practice at reading and comprehending from a young age gave me an unfair advantage over my peers in school and also on those dumb standardized government tests like SATs and the WASL for example.
Give your child the chance to broaden her mind with your help, and she'll go far! Kudos to you both for spending that time with your child! Not many parents do that anymore!

How wonderful! And what a great Dad you are for thinking about this. Literacy is so important nowdays. I think that Charlottes Web is a great book. Reading a chapter a night is not only good for her as far as learning, but also a great bonding time!! Another good one is "watership down"... AWESOME book.
Another great idea... When you get done with the book.. rent the movie.. and also watership down has a movie too.. could be some bonding time for the both of you!
What a great parent!

I would say wait a year or two. I am a librarian and the mother of a five year old and at that age they still need pictures and a short story. If your child has a long attention span try a chapter or two and see if she seems interested. Try to read a bit and then discuss what you have read. That will tell you if she comprehends. Good luck and keep reading!!!

That is OK. Mostly at this age children will listen to your voice while they fall asleep so it does not matter what you read them. I know that when I was in grade school our class read Charlotte's Web in I think 3rd grade. Oh and kudos to you for reading to your child. This is a great bonding time that she will always remember. Some parents don't seem to have the time or the want to sit down and read to their child.

I was 5 when my parents started reading longer books one chapter per night. Charlotte's Web was one of them. I loved it.

I think that it is a fine idea to start already. When I lived in England, the teacher read us Charlotte's Web in third grade.

i do no longer think of examining "undesirable books" is any genuine undertaking. i could be delighted to work out teenagers examining any of those titles particularly than spending all their time on video games and television. some human beings are in basic terms afraid that their teenagers might particularly could think of for themselves now and returned. This may be the only e book record ever compiled that contains the two Madonna's "intercourse" and Laura Ingalls Wilder's "Little homestead on the Prairie." Wow, those human beings are morons.

It's possible to invest lots of time and income looking for ways to teach your young ones how to learn and improve their reading skills. Is difficult to show a tiny kid how to see, and actually attractive them to read is challenging in itself. Nonetheless it does not have to be this way when you got the help of this system https://tr.im/FX4ps , Children Learning Reading program.
With Children Learning Reading you may teach your son or daughter how to separate looks and separate words into phonemes, an essential thing whenever your kid is just learning how to spell.
The examining system from Children Learning Reading program allows you for kids to see quickly and effectively, from simple phrases to sentences until they understand to read stories.
